Four-Part Political Thriller Stars Gabriel Byrne, Charles Dance and Ruth Negga

Los Angeles, CA - August 18, 2020 - As part of the recently announced Saturday night programming block called Mystery Alley, Ovation TV, America's only arts network, will air British political thriller Secret State starting Saturday, September 12 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT. Starring Golden Globe winner Gabriel Byrne, Emmy nominee Charles Dance, and Oscar nominee Ruth Negga, the series follows both Australian crime drama The Code and British mystery series Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime.

Secret State is based on the Chris Mullins novel A Very British Coup and explores the relationship between a democratically elected government, big business, and the banks. Gabriel Byrne stars as Deputy Prime Minister Tom Dawkins, who's thrust to the fore by catastrophic events, and ends up forced to take on the might of the Establishment. Charles Dance stars as John Hodder MP, the Chief Whip, while Ruth Negga stars as intelligence analyst Agnes Evans.

Episode 1 airs Saturday, September 12 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT

Following the suspicious death of the Prime Minister in a plane crash, the understated political ambitions of Tom Dawkins (Gabriel Byrne) are tested as heavyweights Ros Yelland (Sylvestra Le Touzel) and Felix Durrell (Rupert Graves) vie for the top job.

Episode 2 airs Saturday, September 19 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT

Following his shock election victory, Tom Dawkins (Gabriel Byrne) launches an inquiry into the toxicology anomalies at the blast in Scarrow.

Episode 3 airs Saturday, September 26 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT

Following revelations about covert drone fuel production in Scarrow, Tom Dawkins (Gabriel Byrne) is in the center of a political storm. And his pursuit of corrupt banker Sir Michael Rix (Anton Lesser) makes him powerful enemies.

Episode 4 airs Saturday, October 3 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT

In the final part of the political thriller, Agnes (Ruth Negga) tries every avenue to contact Tom Dawkins (Gabriel Byrne) and share her information about what brought down the Prime Minister's plane.
