NETFLIX ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE OF "YOUR NAME ENGRAVED HEREIN"
Taiwan's All-Time Highest-Grossing LGBTQ Film Receiving 5 Golden Horse Award Nominations to Stream Worldwide
TAIPEI, 23 November, 2020 - Netflix, the world's leading streaming entertainment service, today announced a global release of Your Name Engraved Herein, Taiwan's highest-grossing LGBTQ film of all time produced by Arthur Chu (Chu Yu Ning) and directed by Patrick Liu. The film will stream exclusively on Netflix worldwide on December 23.
Your Name Engraved Herein is about two high school boys in an all-male boarding school exploring their friendship and genuine love for each other against the backdrop of the 1980s when Taiwan recently lifted its strict martial law, amid a transition from conservative society to become the most LGBTQ-friendly country in Asia. When the boarding school begins admitting females, their relationship faces an ultimate test with the emergence of a school girl. The film has received Best Original Song and Best cinematography at this year's Golden Horse Awards , the most prestigious annual award for Chinese-language films.
Adapted from the director's high school memories, Patrick Liu said: "I hope viewers can relate to LGBTQ community's feeling of genuine affection and heartaches that are just as susceptible as everyone else. I look forward to sparking more discussions across Asia. It is my hope to erase discriminations and heal the world with more love and acceptance. As the film will stream globally soon, I am curious about viewers' response to this film." Producer Arthur Chu added: "All Netflix viewers will soon be fully-immersed into a timeless tale filled with affection. We welcome everyone to rediscover part of their first love in this film."
Following his breakout role in Detention, Jing-Hua Tseng delivers his on-screen talent of this heart-rending story with Edward Chen who was nominated for this year's Best New Performer in Golden Horse Awards. "Love has no boundaries, regardless of your nationality, race or gender. Hopefully after watching this film, viewers can all find their path to love," said Jing-Hua and Edward.
Your Name Engraved Herein will premiere globally on December 23 on Netflix.
