Let the games begin! In a fast-paced hour hosted by Kym Whitley and filled with theatrics and skill, four pairs of dogs and amateur trainers face off against one another to show which dog (and trainer) is the greatest showman with the best tricks and talent. The pairs move through three different rounds of increasing competition while being judged by pro dog trainer, Travis Brorsen and style judge, Crystal Powell, and one pair is eliminated in each round. The two best teams move on to the final showstopper round to see who wins game and $5,000.00 to donate to the charity of their choice.

Throughout sixteen years of ear tugs, fluffy faces and all paw-to-paw PUPPY BOWL action, there have been MVP's, underdogs, fan favorites and lots of Ruff and Fluff along the way. From the high scores to the hometown heroes, Animal Planet has brought together the top dogs - the pups with the right stuff - for a special hour leading up to PUPPY BOWL XVII to reveal what for pup player's post-championship lives are like. But, in true PUPPY BOWL fashion, there can be only one player who will take home the title of "Best In Show". Past puppy players include Filbert, Aspen, Sierra/Mia, Pirate/MinGuk, Barry/Tucker, Lucky, Winston/Gronk, Wrinkles, Loren/Laddie, Mandy, Rory, Bumble, Tucker/Arya, Eli and Schroeder.
