In times of lockdown and staying indoors, it's easy to crave the natural wonders that only wildlife can satisfy. Fan-favorite series THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO returns with an all-new season of memorable animal tales (and tails!) from the San Diego Zoo Global, streaming exclusively now on discovery+, the definitive non-fiction, real-life subscription streaming service, with a new episode streaming each Saturday. San Diego Zoo Global, whose mission is to save species worldwide from extinction while inspiring passion for wildlife and wild places, features two parks, the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, as well as the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. San Diego Zoo Global is home to more than 700 species and 6,500 animals.

In the season two premiere of THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO, currently steaming on discovery+, audiences meet Funani, a river hippo who welcomes a new addition to the family; Omeo, an orphaned koala joey; and the team's journey to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya to help develop an innovative milk formula for elephant calves who do not have mothers. Other stories this season will include a pair of lappet-faced vultures who produce the zoo's first fertile egg for the species; wallaby Thelma and her joey Everest who become ambassador animals; and even a few koalas Puck, Ra, and Laksmi who are nursed back to health after being saved from the bushfires. In addition to this, THE ZOO: SAN DIEGO becomes host to the only pair of platypuses, Eve and Birrarung, outside Australia! Follow along as these dedicated group of keepers and veterinarians go above and beyond every day to provide care for these animals in the name of wildlife conservation.
