FX and Hulu Set the Next Installment of The New York Times Presents "Who Gets To Be an Influencer?"

Seventh Film in the Docuseries Chronicles the Rise of Collab Crib, One of the First Mainstream Black "Creator Mansion"

Premieres Friday, June 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and Hulu

New Installment Follows the Documentary Film "Framing Britney Spears"

LOS ANGELES, May 10, 2021 - Following the intense interest generated by The New York Times Presents' "Framing Britney Spears," the docuseries' seventh installment "Who Gets To Be an Influencer?" premieres Friday, June 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and Hulu.

"Who Gets To Be an Influencer?," from The New York Times and producer/director Lora Moftah, chronicles the rise of Collab Crib, one of the first mainstream Black creator mansion, exclusively documenting their whirlwind drive to achieve social media stardom in 90 days. The intimate, character-based film captures the influencers wrestling with a nagging, and profound, challenge: how can they succeed in a nascent industry that seems tilted to their disadvantage?

For a growing number of Gen Z'ers, the quest to become a social-media influencer isn't just a passing fad: this is their preferred path to making it big. And for Black creators, the stakes and hurdles are even higher in a social-media ecosystem that has been dominated by white influencers.

The New York Times Presents, produced by The New York Times and Left/Right, is a series of standalone documentaries powered by the unparalleled journalism and insight of The New York Times, bringing viewers close to the essential stories of our time. Each of the 10 individual documentaries will air simultaneously on FX and on Hulu, Fridays at 10pm ET/PT. Previous installments, including The Killing of Breonna Taylor and Framing Britney Spears are currently streaming on FX on Hulu.
