ADOPTED (ABC) - The Alphabet has passed on the comedy pilot, in which when a Green Beret (Shawn Vance) returns home to Texas from military service, he and his family (Bruce Campbell, Wendie Malick) struggle with the challenges of adopting his new brother (Maxim Swinton), a 12-year-old Russian boy. EVERYTHING'S TRASH BUT IT'S OKAY (Freeform) - Jackée Harry and George Wallace have both signed onto the comedy pilot. Harry will star as Zora, "Phoebe and Jayden's mother. She and her husband are mid-Western transplants, but they have made a home in NY. They love and support their children equally, but truth be known, Zora acts (and dresses) younger than she is and straddles the line between "I'm my daughter's mother" and "I'm my daughter's best friend." And Wallace is Abraham, "Phoebe and Jayden's father and husband to Zora. He and his wife have been together since middle school and like Zora, he has treated Phoebe more like a friend than a daughter, which was fine before because she always brought laughter and joy to the family. However, now that Jayden is an elected official, Frederick worries that his daughter's ne'er do well ways is not a great look for the family." (Variety.com)
FIVE DAYS AT MEMORIAL (Apple TV+) - Emmy and Tony Award winner Cherry Jones is the latest addition to the limited series as Susan Mulderick, "a hospital nursing director and head of the emergency preparedness committee, who becomes the designated incident commander for Hurricane Katrina." (Deadline.com)
GASLIT (Starz) - Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham and Darby Camp are the latest additions to the Watergate drama. Gilpin will play Mo Dean, "a former stewardess who meets John Dean (Dan Stevens) on a blind date and falls in love with him just as he becomes embroiled in Watergate. Sharp and quick-thinking, Mo learns her new husband is a principal figure in the scandal as they're both thrust onto a national stage." Whigham plays G. Gordon Liddy, "a former FBI agent and chief operative of Nixon's "Plumbers" unit who spearheads the Watergate espionage operation as part of Nixon's 1972 reelection campaign. A zealot and true believer, Liddy follows his own moral code, which drives him to protect the President at all costs." And Camp is Marty Mitchell, "Martha Mitchell's daughter, who spent much of her young life living in her mother's shadow. Accustomed to being dressed up and paraded around parties, Marty has to choose between her parents as their marriage falls apart." Julia Roberts and Sean Penn also star as Martha Mitchell and John Mitchell, respectively. (Deadline.com)
JOE EXOTIC (Peacock) - The much-ballyhooed scripted series, featuring Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin and John Cameron Mitchell as Joe "Exotic" Schreibvogel, will stream exclusively on Peacock. In addition, Justin Tipping has been tapped to direct the first four episodes, including the pilot. (Deadline.com)
PROMISED LAND (ABC) - Rolando Chusan is the latest bound for the drama pilot as Billy, "a worker on the Heritage House vineyard in the Sonoma Valley. Billy dreams of one day owning the vineyard and has an immediate spark with Juana (Katya Martín), launching an intense rivalry with Billy's brother, Carlos (Andres Velez), who is also in love with her." (Deadline.com)
REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER (HBO) - The pay channel has canceled this Friday's taping following the news host Bill Maher has tested positive for COVID-19. (@billmaher)
RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES, THE (HBO) - Jason Schwartzman, Eric Roberts and Eric Andre will recur on the comedy's second season. Schwartzman will play Thaniel, "a journalist working on a story about the ministries"; with Roberts as Junior, "who grew up with Eli and suddenly re-enters his life"; and Andre as Lyle Lissons, "a megachurch pastor from Texas who befriends Jesse and Amber." (Deadline.com)
UNCOUPLED (Netflix, New!) - Darren Star and Jefferey Richman are set to team for a new comedy at the streamer which "centers on Michael who thought his life was perfect until his husband blindsides him by walking out the door after 17 years. Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares - losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City." MTV Entertainment Studios is behind the eight-episode series with Jax Media's Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns executive producing alongside Darren Star Productions' Star and Jeffrey Richman Productions' Richman. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED STEVE KORNACKI PROJECT (NBC, New!) - NBC News staple Steve Kornacki is developing a new game show for NBCUniversal's television and streaming group, which "will showcase his interests in statistics, sports and politics, but details of the show have not yet been announced."
