CANDY (Hulu) - Pablo Schreiber has joined the cast of the Jessica Biel-led limited series as Alan Gore, "Betty's husband and a Silicon Prairie engineer and father." (Variety.com)
CONTINENTAL, THE (Starz) - Colin Woodell is set to topline the "John Wick" prequel series, about "a young Winston Scott (Ian McShane's character from the films) who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he'd left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the New York's mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world's most dangerous criminals." Also cast are Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles; Jessica Allain as Lou; Mishel Prada as KD; Nhung Kate as Yen; and Ben Robson as Frankie. They join the previously announced Mel Gibson as Cormac. DEVIL IN OHIO (Netflix) - The Emily Deschanel-led limited series has cast Djouliet Amara as Tatiana; Jason Sakaki as Isaac; Marci T. House as Adele; Samantha Ferris as Rhoda; Bradley Stryker as Sheriff Wilkins; Evan Ellison as Sebastian; Ty Wood as Teddy; Stacey Farber as Gina; Tahmoh Penikett as Malachi; and Keenan Tracey as Noah. GHOSTS (CBS) - Emmy nominee Matt Walsh will guest on the newcomer as Elias, "a "gregarious robber baron" and "philandering scoundrel of a man" from the 19th century who also happens to be the husband of Sam's ancestor Hetty, played by series regular Rebecca Wisocky." (TVLine.com)
HENNA ARTIST, THE (Netflix, New!) - Freida Pinto is attached to star in a proposed small screen take on Alka Joshi's bestselling debut novel to the streamer, "an English language soapy drama and epic romance set against the lush and romantic backdrop of 1950s Jaipur, India's famed "pink city," renowned for its opulent palaces and rich cultural landscape. Lakshmi (Pinto) is Jaipur's most in-demand henna artist, with access to the inner sanctums of the city's wealthiest women and privy to their most scandalous secrets. But Lakshmi harbors secrets of her own and as she falls in love and endeavors to create a life for herself in a newly-independent India, her past returns to threaten her position within Jaipur's high society." Sri Rao is penning the project for Miramax Television, Freebird Films and Sri & Company with Pinto, Mirsada Abdool Raman and Michael Edelstein likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
MILLION LITTLE THINGS, A (ABC) - Ryan Hansen, Azie Tesfai and Mario Van Peebles are all bound for the series. Hansen will play Camden, "a handsome and charming professional hockey player." Tesfai will portray Cassandra, "a very good publicist helping Rome with his documentary." And Van Peebles is Regina's father Ronald. (TVLine.com)
RESIDENT, THE (FOX) - Kaley Ronayne will recur on the current season as Cade, "a badass emergency room doctor described as an "action heroine." SON IN LAW, THE (ABC) - Ajay Sahgal's comedy - in which "a salt-of-the-earth man finds himself seeking the approval of his new fiancée's sophisticated parents, even as he is a difficult-to-impress father-in-law to his daughter's longtime boyfriend" - has been ordered to pilot by the Alphabet. The Detective Agency's Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar will also executive produce for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
