BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Disney+) - Jelani Alladin has been cast in the prequel series as Jean-Michel: "Charming. Cool. A talented artist who has a quick wit, a sharp intellect, and a fierce independent streak." (Deadline.com)
BLUMHOUSE FILM SERIES (Epix) - Jolene Purdy and Midori Francis will star in the "Unseen" installment of the movie franchise: "Two women form an unlikely connection when a depressed gas station clerk Sam (Purdy), receives a call from Emily (Francis), a nearly blind woman who is running from her murderous ex in the woods. Emily must survive the ordeal with Sam being her eyes from afar using video call. Michael Patrick Lane (Dynasty) will play the ex." Yoko Okumura is directing from a script by Salvatore Cardoni and Brian Rawlins. (Deadline.com)
DANGEROUS MOMS/HUNGRY/SOMEONE OUT THERE (NBC) - Of the network's three off-cycle pilots, only the Demi Lovato-led comedy "Hungry" remains active. Drama "Dangerous Moms" and comedy "Someone Out There" are no longer active. (Deadline.com)
HIP HOP HOMICIDES (WE tv, New!) - The cable channel has commissioned an eight-part series that "will look into the staggering number of unsolved murders in the hip-hop community in an attempt to uncover details of what really happened." Van Lathan will host the project with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Mona Scott-Young, Stephanie R. Gayle, Michael Lang, Lauren Gellert, Kari McFarland, Vanessa Satten and Anthony Wilson executive producing for G-Unit Film & Television and Monami Productions. Don Sikorski will serve as a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
JOSEP/LA LAW/SON IN LAW, THE/UNTITLED ALASKA PROJECT (ABC) - The Alphabet has confirmed the aforementioned two comedies and two dramas are the only pilots picked up as of press time. Additional orders are expected in the coming months. (Deadline.com)
NEVER HAVE I EVER (Netflix) - Anirudh Pisharody will recur on the show's third season as Des, "an Indian American teen who's as smart as Devi but goes to an elite private school." (Deadline.com)
PERRY MASON (HBO) - Sean Astin, Tommy Dewey, Paul Raci and Jen Tullock have all booked roles on the show's sophomore run, while Shea Whigham's Pete Strickland is also due back. Astin will play Sunny Gryce, "Perry and Della's new client, he's a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield that is dueling supermarkets in town, and he'll make sure he gets his money's worth out of his fancy new attorneys." Dewey recurs as Brooks McCutcheon, "the scion of the wealthiest oil family in LA"; with Raci as Lydell McCutcheon, "a self-made power player who built LA, along with his fortune, off the city's vast oil fields"; and Tullock as Anita St. Pierre, "a successful screenwriter and the rare woman who's made a name for herself in a man's world." POOCH PERFECT (ABC) - Rebel Wilson's dog-grooming competition series has been axed after one season. (Deadline.com)
RACE TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (NGC) - National Geographic has nixed the adventure competition series after one season. (Deadline.com)
SMALL FORTUNE (NBC) - The Lil Rel Howery-hosted game show has been canceled after one season. (Deadline.com)
SQUID GAME (Netflix) - Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos confirmed there will "absolutely" be a second season of the series during Netflix's fourth-quarter earnings call on Thursday. (Deadline.com)
TRUE LIES (CBS) - The feature-turned-TV series pilot has completed production and "is believed to be in serious contention." (Deadline.com)
WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE (ABC) - The Jimmy Kimmel-hosted reboot series is being tabled after two seasons. Said report indicates "there are no plans to make further episodes" however "left the door open for it to return in the future." (Deadline.com)
