BAAHUBALI: BEFORE THE BEGINNING (Netflix) - The prequel series is reportedly being "reevaluated" after filming has been completed on the first of its two-season order. Said report indicates a new director is being considered to replace Deva Katta while mid-stream cast changes were made as well. (Variety.com)
DIPLOMAT, THE (Netflix, New!) - Debora Cahn has scored an eight-episode order from the streamer for a new drama in which "in the midst of an international crisis, a career diplomat lands in a high-profile job she's unsuited for, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future." Janice Williams is also on board to executive produce the U.K.-based project, part of Cahn's newly signed multi-year overall deal with the streaming service. (Deadline.com)
FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE (FX on Hulu) - Emmy winner Claire Danes has signed onto the limited series as Rachel, "a very successful and ambitious talent agent whose put-together exterior conceals past trauma. While she initially enjoys her freedom after leaving Toby, Rachel ultimately struggles with her new identity." (Deadline.com)
GOOD OMENS (Amazon) - Derek Jacobi, Niamh Walsh, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith will all return for the show's second season while Dame Siân Phillips, Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho and Alex Norton have been cast in yet-to-be-revealed roles. Previously announced as returning are Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, Nina Sosanya, Doon Mackichan, Gloria Obianyo, Liz Carr, Quelin Sepulveda and Shelley Conn while Benedict Cumberbatch and Frances McDormand won't be back. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (Showtime) - Nick Stahl has joined the cast of the vampire drama series as Matthew, "a former soldier and fiercely loyal fixer for the Logan family, whose clean-cut, mild-mannered exterior belies a savagery beneath." (Deadline.com)
LIFE & BETH (Hulu) - Violet Young has been cast as the younger, teen version of Amy Schumer's Beth in the upcoming comedy series. (Deadline.com)
WASHINGTON BLACK (Hulu) - Edward Bluemel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Eddie Karanja will star opposite Sterling K. Brown, Iola Evans and Ernest Kingsley, Jr. in the limited series. Bluemel will play William "Billy" McGee, "a wealthy British businessman who relocated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1837"; with Duncan-Brewster, as Miss Angie, "a woman from Trinidad who has traveled to Nova Scotia to find the freedom to build something of her own"; and Karanja as Young Wash, "a gentle-eyed, 11-year-old boy with a dreamer's heart."
