HBO Max Announces More Than A Month, A Campaign Amplifying Black Voices And Stories In Honor Of Black History Month

This Black History Month, HBO Max Showcases Why Black Storytelling Deserves More Than A Month

Starting February 1, HBO Max will celebrate Black History Month 2022 with the "More Than a Month" campaign within the Black Voices collection, highlighting the streamer's distinct and comprehensive slate of content that elevates the unique voices, timeless stories and powerful performances of the Black community. The month-long celebration also includes Twitter watch parties with talent and a sampling of select free titles available on Watch Free Episodes on HBO Max and Black Voices. The newly launched Black Voices will remain active and updated throughout the year.

Throughout the month, the Black Voices collection, mirroring the Black Voices spotlight page in-app, will include a free sampling of HBO Original documentary film "A Choice of Weapons: Gordon Parks." Additional titles will also be available to try for free via the Watch Free hub on HBOMax.com: episode one of the documentary series "Being Serena," season one, episode one of the HBO Original "Insecure," documentary film "King in the Wilderness," season two, episode one of Max Originals "Love Life" and season two, episode one of "South Side."

Black Voices on and throughout HBO Max in-app will feature programming from Black content creators and leads including HBO Originals "Lovecraft Country," "A Black Lady Sketch Show," and "Insecure," Max Originals "South Side," "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion," and "That Damn Michael Che, to thought-provoking documentaries and biopics that highlight civil rights icons including HBO's "Frederick Douglass: In Five Speeches" (debuting February 23) and "Dreamland: the Burning of Black Wall Street" and "Oscar Micheaux: The Superhero of Black Filmmaking." Legacy titles featured include "Malcolm X," "Eyes on the Prize," "42," "Bessie," and "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge." The Warner Bros. Streaming Exclusive film "KIMI," starring Zoƫ Kravitz and debuting February 10, will also be a part of the collection.

Additionally, on February 3, HBO Max will debut the 2021 finalists of HBO's Short Films Competition in partnership with the American Black Film Festival (ABFF): "Cracked," "Mass Ave," "Pure," "The Snakes," and "When the Sun Sets" on Black Voices.

To further generate conversation amongst audiences, HBO Max Scene in Black, a social destination that elevates Black stories and talent, will host Twitter watch parties every week throughout the month of February celebrating nostalgic programming available on the platform.
