CONTINENTAL, THE (Starz) - Katie McGrath, Ray McKinnon, Adam Shapiro, Mark Musashi and Marina Mazepa have all been cast in the "John Wick" prequel series. They'll play The Adjudicator, Jenkins, Shapiro and High Table assassins Hansel & Gretel, respectively. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
DEW DROP DIARIES/NOT QUITE NARWHAL (Netflix, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a pair of animated preschool series from DreamWorks Animation. "Not Quite Narwhal" tells "the story of rambunctious narwhal named Kelp who discovers that he is actually a unicorn, and is based on the children's book by Jessie Sima." Brian Roberts, Nakia Trower and Sarah Katin are co-executive producers. "Dew Drop Diaries" follows "a group of fairies, known as dew drops, who live in a big city and keep things running smoothly behind-the-scenes." Rick Suvalle is the creator and executive producer. Both projects have two season orders. Additionally, fellow DreamWorks Animation series "Gabby's Dollhouse" has been extended by an additional 20 episodes. (Variety.com)
DOOMSDAY MACHINE (HBO, New!) - Emmy winner Claire Foy is attached to star in a limited series at the pay channel which "chronicles the political and social minefields Facebook has navigated on its relentless quest for growth. The series places us in the shoes of Sandberg (Foy) and Mark Zuckerberg, who are shaping the way that billions of people around the world communicate and consume information." Ayad Akhtar is behind the project, which is based on Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang's book "An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook's Battle for Domination" as well as their and Andrew Marantz's reporting. Foy and Akhtar executive produce alongside Paul Lee and Josh Stern for wiip, David Levine and Doug Wald for Anonymous Content, Adam Berkowitz, Elyse Cheney and Adam Eaglin. Frenkel, Kang and Marantz serve as consultants. (Deadline.com)
EARLY EDITION (REBOOT SERIES) (CBS, New!) - The Eye has ordered a pilot for a reboot of its 1996-2000 series, which starred Kyle Chandler as "a man who magically received tomorrow's edition of the Chicago Sun-Times today, delivered to his door each morning by a mysterious ginger tabby cat. His knowledge of the future then gave him the chance to change it for the better." In the rebooted version, "an ambitious but uncompromising journalist starts receiving tomorrow's newspaper today. She then finds herself in the complicated business of changing the news instead of reporting it." Melissa Glenn is behind the project with DeVon Franklin and original series co-creator Bob Brush also executive producing for Franklin Entertainment, Sony Pictures Television, AFFIRM Television and CBS Studios. Jenna Nicholson will co-executive produce. (Variety.com)
HSI: PUERTO RICO (CBS, New!) - Actor/producers and husband-and-wife duo Roselyn Sanchez and Eric Winter have sold a new drama to the Eye in which "a hot-headed Homeland Security agent reluctantly returns home to Puerto Rico where she works with her talented but jaded training officer as part of an elite HSI team working tirelessly as the first line of defense against all manner of threats to the United States." Lisa Morales is penning the project with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Brian Morewitz likewise executive producing. Sanchez and Winter's Two for the Road Entertainment recently signed an overall deal with the company. (Deadline.com)
PALOMINO (Netflix, New!) - Rob Bullock and Jack Lothian are spearheading an eight-episode action-adventure series at the streamer which "will follow Erin Collantes, a British teacher in Spain who finds herself caught up in a supermarket robbery. When one of the robbers claims to recognize her, her life threatens to unravel. In Palomino, a town of secrets, she must fight to clear her name and protect her family." Left Bank Pictures is behind the project with Lothian and Andy Harries executive producing, Nuala O'Leary producing and Iram Haq as lead director. Filming is set to begin later this year in Barcelona. (Deadline.com)
WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW, THE (Syndication) - Sherri Shepherd is finalizing a deal to become the permanent host of the syndicated daytime talk show. Shepherd had been "filling in on a regular basis for Williams since the beginning of the 13th season as the veteran talk show host took time off to recover from a variety of health issues." It's understood the show is expected to be renamed and continue on its participating stations. (Deadline.com)
