DEMIMONDE (HBO) - The network has formally pulled the plug on the sci-fi series from J.J. Abrams over budgetary issues. Producer Warner Bros. Television and HBO "had been trying to rein in costs, but Bad Robot kept firm on their proposed budget, said to be in the mid-$200 million range, and would not agree to a reduction." It's not clear if the studio plans to shop the project elsewhere. (Deadline.com)
FELLOW TRAVELERS (Showtime) - Allison Williams will star alongside Matt Bomer in the eight-episode limited series as Lucy Smith, "the daughter of a prominent U.S. Senator who has known Hawk (Bomer) since they were teenagers." (Variety.com)
GHOSTS (CBS) - Co-creators Joe Port and Joe Wiseman have signed a three-year overall deal with the show's producer CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
LAW & ORDER (NBC) - Sam Waterston has closed a deal to return as Jack McCoy for the upcoming 22nd season. The actor previously signed a one-year deal to star in the revival. (Deadline.com)
LONG SLOW EXHALE (Spectrum) - The company has nixed the Rose Rollins/Josh Lucas-led series after one season. Paramount Television Studios hopes to shop the series elsewhere. Currently exclusive to Spectrum, a second window on BET is due in 2023. (Deadline.com)
MRS. AMERICAN PIE (Apple TV+) - Emmy, Grammy, and Tony winner Carol Burnett has signed onto the Kristen Wiig-led comedy series as Norma, "the grande dame of Palm Beach high society, a keeper of secrets with more than a few of her own." (Deadline.com)
POKER FACE (Peacock) - Chloë Sevigny is the latest to board the mystery drama series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS (Paramount+) - Jesse James Keitel will guest on the show's June 16 episode as Dr. Aspen, "who once worked as a Starfleet counselor, but whose experiences on the Federation border prompted them to shift careers and work as a humanitarian aid worker. During the episode, which was directed by trans filmmaker Sydney Freeland, Dr. Aspen will develop a surprising connection with Spock (Ethan Peck)." (Variety.com)
UNPRISONED (Hulu) - Marque Richardson has been cast in the Kerry Washington/Delroy Lindo-led comedy series as Mal, "the caseworker at the group home from which Eddie (Lindo) has been released after 16 years in prison." (Deadline.com)
