Roku takes Unscripted Originals to New Heights with "Survival From Above" and "Lincoln Log Project" (wt)
The Roku Channel is partnering with Caravan on "Survival From Above" and Entertainment One (eOne) for "Lincoln Log Project" (wt)
Titles to debut on The Roku Channel in 2023
Roku today announced greenlights of two, new Roku Original unscripted projects: "Survival From Above" and "Lincoln Log Project" (wt). The series will premiere exclusively on The Roku Channel in 2023. "Survival From Above" is the first-ever survival competition series set entirely in rainforest treetops of Guyana, South America, with contestants suspended 100 feet off the ground. Entertainment One's (eOne) "Lincoln Log Project" (wt) brings audiences into the highly visual and physical world of professional loggers, as master builders create the ultimate dream cabins from the ground up using life-sized Lincoln Logs.
The announcement of these new series marks Roku Originals' expansion into the adventure and exploration genres, broadening the breath of original content available exclusively on The Roku Channel. The Roku Channel recently announced several highly anticipated new unscripted projects including "The Great American Baking Show," "To Paris For Love: A Reality Rom Com," "Honest Renovations," "Delicioso," "Martha Gardens," "Emeril Tailgates," "Milk Street My Family Recipe" and more.
Survival From Above: There is one place on this planet humans have yet dared call home - the canopy of the South American Rainforest. For the first time in history, ten survivalists will take survival to a whole new level. Ten people, Ten treetops, and one unpredictable jungle in one of the most extreme, adventure challenges ever attempted: all suspended 100 feet above the jungle floor. Who has the skills to survive the longest before ever stepping foot on the ground, and be the "last person hanging" for the $100,000 prize? Survival From Above will start production later this year in the rainforest of Guyana. The eight, hour-long episode series is produced by Carvan (an All3 Media company) with Dinah Lord, Rafael Montserrat and Jane McGoldrick executive producing, with Kristina Obradovic as Production Consultant.
Lincoln Log Project (wt): Inspired by Hasbro's iconic childhood toy Lincoln Logs, this build series brings fantasy to reality on a grander scale, as our master builders take ordinary log cabin design and catapult it into the stratosphere. Viewers will get an up-close look at what it takes to design the ultimate Lincoln Log cabins from the ground up, from the moment the crew yells "timber," until the keys are handed off at the front door. Each episode will dive into the artisanal and transformational process of hand-cutting and custom-crafting life-size Lincoln Logs to the surprise and delight of each cabin's new owners. "Lincoln Log Project" (wt) will start production later this year. The series' eight, hour-long episodes are produced by eOne with Tara Long, Geno McDermott, Gennifer Gardiner and Cindy Bertram executive producing.
Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Alternative Originals, Roku: "Today's series greenlights plant Roku Originals' flag in the adventure and exploration unscripted genres, which will not only excite our current streamer base, but also attract new audiences to The Roku Channel. It's an honor to work with the phenomenal teams at eOne and Caravan to create bold, premium content for audiences to enjoy for free."
Dinah Lord, Co-Founder and CEO, Caravan: "We are honored to be working with Roku on its first survival series, and looking forward to delivering this bold, innovative, and breathtaking new format which literally takes the genre in a whole new, upwards, direction!"
