THE ROYBAL FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION MAGNET FUND ANNOUNCES MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HISTORY(R) CHANNEL/A+E NETWORKS(R)
Paul Buccieri, President and Chairman of A+E Networks Group, Joins The Roybal Advisory Board
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 21, 2022) - Extending its long-standing commitment to education and mentorship, The HISTORY(R) Channel/A+E Networks(R) has partnered with the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet Fund, which was established by George Clooney, Grant Heslov and Creative Artists Agency's Bryan Lourd to support the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet a specialized academy founded in 2021 by the trio and a coalition of leaders to drive transformational change across the entertainment industry for students from underserved communities. The school is set to welcome its inaugural class in the fall.
In addition, Paul Buccieri, President and Chairman of A+E Networks Group, has joined the Roybal Advisory Board and will work alongside board members George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Bryan Lourd, Kerry Washington, Eva Longoria, Mindy Kaling, Don Cheadle, Nicole Avant, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jim Gianopulos.

"The History Channel is proud to be a founding partner at the school to help support educators, augment curriculum, provide opportunities that inspire curiosity and empower students to excel. The Roybal school will help infuse the media and entertainment industry with an incredible new pool of creatives, and I am thrilled to play a role in this important endeavor."
As part of the multi-year partnership, The HISTORY Channel/A+E Networks will provide classroom resources and innovative curriculum developed to meet the standards prescribed by the state of California and the University of California system, plus offer students access to special screenings and guest speakers, including distinguished historians. Working in collaboration with the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet Fund and the school, the company will also develop learning sessions led by A+E Networks creatives and company leaders with expertise in a range of behind-the-camera roles, helping to expand and amplify students' access to practical skill-based learning.
The HISTORY Channel/A+E Networks' decades-long engagement with educational and mentorship programs includes providing more than 120,000 educators across the country with curriculum materials and resources, as well as granting scholarships and mentorship opportunities, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. "We welcome Paul and his shared commitment to the Boards' mission. With Paul and the support of The History Channel, we are able accelerate our collective impact on Roybal's students," said Lourd. Overseen by Principal Blanca Cruz, the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet will provide Los Angeles Unified teachers with access to renowned storytellers, along with industry professionals and experts, and support students with a robust academic education and practical training, providing a foundational understanding of the media and entertainment industry, while preparing them for below-the-line professions. The magnet will start with ninth- and 10th-grade students and include grades 11 and 12 over the next two years, with potential opportunity to expand the pilot program to more schools throughout the Los Angeles area.
