FIRE COUNTRY (CBS) - Rebecca Mader and Kanoa Goo are both slated to recur on the freshman drama. Mader will play Faye: "Smart, stunning, funny and rich, Faye is the head of a private concierge firefighting company, and when she meets Manny (Kevin Alejandro) at an AA meeting, there's a romantic spark. Faye wants to recruit him for her firm and a romantic fling. Manny likes his job, but doesn't much like being alone, so Faye will have to settle for achieving fifty per cent of her goals." And Goo is Kyle, "a swim Adonis, who has arrived to attend a swim clinic. He knows Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) well enough to tease her, and appears interested in acting as Bode's new romantic rival. Gabriela definitely regards Kyle as a trusted friend, but he looks suspiciously like he's trying to nudge his way into her heart." (Deadline.com)
HELLTOWN (Amazon, New!) - Writer Mohamad El Masri and director Edward Berger are on track to team with Oscar Isaac for an eight-episode crime thriller at Amazon Studios, which "centers on Kurt Vonnegut (Isaac) before he was a renowned author and cultural lightning rod. In 1969 Kurt was a struggling novelist and car salesman living life with his wife and five children on Cape Cod. When two women disappear and are later discovered murdered underneath the sand dunes on the outskirts of Provincetown, Kurt becomes obsessed and embroiled in the chilling hunt for a serial killer and forms a dangerous bond with the prime suspect." The project is based on the book of the same name by Casey Sherman with all four executive producing alongside Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell for Team Downey and Mad Gene. THREE PINES (Amazon) - Showrunner Emilia di Giorlamo has confirmed the series will not return for a second season. (@emilia_di_girolamo)
UNTITLED LOL SPIN-OFF PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - Amazon Studios and Endemol France are developing a spin-off of "LOL: Qui rit, sort!" that "will mix comedy and horror, bring[ing] together eight well-known actors who will have to be the last to scream, as well as laugh, in order to win the top prize." No other auspices were given. (Variety.com)
