Step Into the Alternate Universe of Thai Rom-com Series 'Ready, Set, Love'

Netflix Thailand is kicking off the year with a bright and bubbly love story, Ready, Set, Love, set in a surrealistic world where men are vastly outnumbered, women must compete for the perfect gentlemen in a government-sponsored game show.

The cast of this romantic comedy includes Pongtiwat "Blue" Tangwancharoen (The Family, You Are My Heartbeat), Kemisara "Belle" Paladesh (Hormones), Trisanu "Man" Soranun (6ixtynin9 The Series), and Nichapalak "Lilly" Thongkham (The Promise).

Directed by Yanyong Kuruangkura (App War, Mother Gamer, Back to the 90s), Ready, Set, Love unfolds in a world where a mysterious plague has decimated the world, resulting in the birth of significantly more females than males. Men, now a rarity, are revered as "national treasures," who are well taken care of by the government. Women who want to marry them must win their affections in a government-sponsored competition called "Ready, Set, Love".

The story starts with Day, an ordinary young woman who finds herself reluctantly participating in this contest. Here, she crosses paths with Son, the most sought-after man, and sparks fly. As their relationship grows, they uncover a conspiracy operating beneath the surface, posing a threat to their love and the world as they know it. →

Yanyong, known for his rom-coms, shared his inspiration for creating this series. "I like to come up with plots that revolve around the what ifs," he says. "The current trend of the female population surpassing males is an interesting topic that can be explored in many fun ways, which I've made into a rom-com series so that it's more accessible."

To bring out the laughs, the director went for a flashy look for the series, adding comedic elements in his signature style. "And with six episodes in the series, the format allowed us to explore even more stories."

Who will find their perfect match? Find out soon on Ready, Set, Love, coming soon exclusively to Netflix.
