Term Two Begins at Hartley High as 'Heartbreak High' Season 2 Premieres April 11 on Netflix

NEW TERM, NEW MISTAKES: It's time to dust off your school bags because Term Two at Hartley High is just around the corner.

Following the resounding global success of Heartbreak High Season 1, resulting in an International Emmy award, Heartbreak High Season 2 will premiere globally on Netflix April 11 - celebratory chippies all round!

Staff Directory: A new term means new faces. Angus Sampson (Furiosa, The Lincoln Lawyer, Fargo) joins the teaching staff as the Head of P.E. Timothy Voss is an uber-masculine sports teacher set to put an end to the bleeding hearts of Hartley High. Rachel House and Chika Ikogwe return as Woodsy and Jojo, the dedicated staff of Heartbreak High.

Fresh Faces: Sam Rechner will play Rowan Callaghan, an unassuming country boy with a dry wit and a passion for classic cinema who finds himself thrown headfirst into the chaos of Hartley High and a truly epic love triangle, and Kartanya Maynard is Zoe Clarke, an opinionated celibacy advocate who, along with her gang of Puriteens, threatens to bring down the SLT class from within.

Sam had a breakout role in Steven Spielberg's biographical feature film The Fabelmans, and starred opposite Jane Seymour and Jacqueline McKenzie in Ruby's Choice.

Kartanya is a Trawlwoolway woman of Nipaluna/Hobart in Lutruwita/Tasmania, and has appeared in Deadloch, The Messenger, and Gold Diggers.

Returning Students: 2023 Logie nominees Ayesha Madon, Chloé Hayden and 2023 Logie winner and 2022 AACTA winner Thomas Weatherall, as well as James Majoos, Asher Yasbincek, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend and Josh Heuston.

Logline: All our heroes are back for Term Two at the "lowest ranking school in the district." But fresh hotties, a new sports teacher and a mystery assailant, throw any hopes for a peaceful term into disarray, while the race for school captain is seeing dirty tactics run rife through Hartley High. Yep... It's Term 2 bitches, and it's more chaotic than ever.

Produced by Fremantle Australia and NewBe, filming of Season 2 of Heartbreak High took place in Sydney (Gadigal, Dharug, Dharawal, Ku-ring-gai and Gundugarra lands), Australia, with all the cast favourites returning after a tumultuous start to the school year.

The first season earned a passionate worldwide following for its honest depiction of what today's teenagers face: from first love, sex, trauma and break ups to inclusivity, sexuality, neurodiversity, and the besties (or frenemies) who get them through it all.

Since the series premiered on 14 September 2022, it:

Won the 2023 International Emmy Award for Best Kids: Live-Action

Won the 2023 Logie Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor (Thomas Weatherall) and was nominated for Most Popular Drama and Most Popular New Talent (Ayesha Madon, Chloé Hayden)

Won the 2022 AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama (Thomas Weatherall), Best Screenplay in Television (Hannah Carroll Chapman) and Best Costume Design in Television (Rita Carmody), and won three Audience Choice Awards for Best TV Show, Best Actor (Bryn Chapman-Parish), and Best Actress (Chloe Hayden)

Spent five weeks in Australia's top 10 TV shows on Netflix and three weeks in the global top 10 TV shows on Netflix (hitting #6, #5, #8 and amassing over 42.6M hours viewed in the three weeks )

Reached top 10 shows in over 43 countries around the world on Netflix including UK, Europe, Africa and Asia

Popped off on TikTok where #heartbreakhigh has amassed over 700m views
