HGTV Renews Hit Series UGLIEST HOUSE IN AMERICA and Greenlights Four-Episode Spin-off Series SCARIEST HOUSE IN AMERICA Both Starring Actress and Comedian Retta

HGTV has ordered a new six-episode season of its hit series, Ugliest House in America, and has greenlighted a four-episode spin-off, Scariest House in America. Both series will star actress and comedian Retta as she goes cross-country to tour properties nominated by homeowners who believe their place is one of the ugliest - or scariest - in the country.

"Not sure how I got roped into this," said Retta. "I don't do scary. I don't like to be scared. I don't like scary movies. Halloween is my least favorite holiday but here we are."

Ugliest House in America, which has attracted nearly nine million viewers since it premiered on April 22, follows Retta as she goes cross-country to tour properties nominated by homeowners who think their place is among the nation's worst. In every episode, she shares her hilarious hot takes of the stunningly bad designs, cringe-worthy layouts and sorely outdated styles. Based on its ugly appearance, poor functionality and hideous design choices, one house is crowned the "ugliest house in America" by HGTV and receives a stunning $150,000 renovation by HGTV star Alison Victoria. The new season will premiere in 2025.

In Scariest House in America, HGTV will expand on the popular format, adding special spine-tingling elements that embrace the spirit of Halloween. During three frightfully fun, half-hour episodes, Retta will travel to homes in various U.S. regions, including the Spooky South, Nightmare Northeast and Mysterious Midwest, where she will tour terrifying properties that owners say are haunted by scary stories and hair-raising sights. The home deemed the "scariest" of them all will also get a renovation revival by designer Alison Victoria in a one-hour season finale episode. Scariest House in America is slated to premiere in October.
