Superpower Comedy Series 'The WONDERfools' Confirmed for Production

The production of the upcoming series The WONDERfools has been confirmed, along with a star-studded cast lineup featuring Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Kim Hae-sook, Choi Dae-hoon, Im Seong-jae, and Son Hyun-joo. Set in the doomsday-fearing year 1999, The WONDERfools is a superpower comedy action adventure that follows a group of awkward townies who unexpectedly gain superpowers and fight villains threatening the peace of Haeseong city.

Park Eun-bin (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Castaway Diva) steps into the role of Haeseong city's biggest trainwreck, Eun Chae-ni. Charming and funny, Chae-ni navigates life at the turn of the century in 1999, becoming entangled in unexpected events that grant her superpowers.

In a departure from his previous roles, Cha Eun-woo (Wonderful World, Island, True Beauty, My ID is Gangnam Beauty) portrays Lee Woon-jung, a socially awkward civic servant from Seoul. A man of principles and a stickler for rules at work, he's a mysterious character who joins Chae-ni in pursuing a series of missing people in Haeseong city.

Kim Hae-sook (Thirst, The Thieves, Gyeongseong Creature) plays Kim Jeon-bok, Chae-ni's grandmother and only remaining family. Jeon-bok owns a well-known restaurant in Haeseong and has a glamorous yet dark past.

Choi Dae-hoon (Uprising, Beyond Evil, Captivating the King) plays Son Kyung-hoon, Haeseong City Hall's chief complainer, while Im Seong-jae (Hellbound Season 2, Target) joins as Kang Ro-bin, Haeseong's biggest pushover. Both characters acquire superpowers after an incident with Chae-ni, and despite their flawed abilities, they stand alongside her to confront the villains, adding humor to the story.

Bringing tension to the series, Son Hyun-joo (Hansan: Rising Dragon, The Good Detective) plays Ha Won-do, a character with dark desires hidden behind a cold and rational exterior.

The WONDERfools promises to deliver true comedy under the direction of Yoo In-sik, known for his work on Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Dr. Romantic. The series is penned by Huh Dah-joong, the screenwriter behind Extreme Job, bringing his signature humor to the project. Additionally, Kang Eun-kyung, from Gyeongseong Creature and Dr. Romantic, serves as the creator of this unique turn-of-the-century superpower comedy action adventure. The series is produced by NANGMANCREW, Kakao Entertainment, and co-produced by FANTAGIO.

Stay tuned for the release of The WONDERfools, only on Netflix.
