TNT Sports will exclusively present The Crypto.com Showdown, a new high stakes premier golf competition featuring Major winners Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. ET, live from MGM Resorts' Shadow Creek golf course in Las Vegas.
Coverage of the primetime 18-hole event with McIlroy and Scheffler paired up head-to-head with rivals DeChambeau and Koepka will be simulcast across TNT, TBS, truTV and the B/R Sports Add-On on Max. Extensive highlights and content will also be available via Bleacher Report's digital and social platforms.
Elements of traditional international team golf will be blended into a single 18-hole match-play event with the winner walking away with the first-ever multi-million-dollar professional sports prize purse in CRO Cryptocurrency.
This month's The Crypto.com Showdown is the latest premier golf event for TNT Sports, which also includes the Sports Emmy-nominated The Match series.
Competition Format
Shadow Creek's 18-hole course will be divided into three six-hole sections, with each segment assigned a point value. Best ball will lead off the first six holes, followed by alternate shot throughout the middle stretch and singles during the final six holes.
Studio & On-Course Commentators
TNT Sports' presentation of The Crypto.com Showdown will feature a world-class collection of commentators. Seven-time Emmy Award winner Ernie Johnson, whose golf resume also includes calling the PGA Championship, The Open Championship and The Match series, will be joined by a trio of popular and well-respected analysts - five-time Sports Emmy Award winner Charles Barkley, 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman and renowned golf personality and former professional golfer David Feherty.
Two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson will serve as an on-course correspondent for the second time on TNT, while Lauren Jbara will serve as course reporter.
TNT Sports will deploy several technological innovations, including dozens of cameras and unparalleled all-access live coverage with participating players interacting with one another and the broadcast team via open mics throughout the primetime telecast under the lights.
Golfers on TNT Sports
DeChambeau has made two previous appearances in TNT's made-for-TV golf events, going 1-1 in The Match series. The two-time U.S. Open champion won The Match IV with Aaron Rodgers in 2021, topping Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. Later that same year, Koepka - in his only previous appearance on TNT - topped DeChambeau in Bryson vs. Brooks.
Earlier this year, McIlroy topped Lexi Thompson, Max Homa and Rose Zhang in The Match IX to even his record on TNT after the four-time Major winner and Tiger Woods fell to Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in The Match VII in 2022. This will be Scheffler's first appearance on TNT.
