Emmy Award-Winning Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo Joins "The Wheel of Time" for Season Three

The highly anticipated new season of the epic fantasy series will premiere March 13, 2025 on Prime Video

CULVER CITY, California - December 11, 2024 - Today, Prime Video announced that Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast of The Wheel of Time for the series' upcoming third season, which will premiere globally March 13, 2025 on Prime Video. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

Aghdashloo joins series star Rosamund Pike in portraying one of the powerful Aes Sedai - a group of women with the ability to channel the One Power who are part of an elite sisterhood. She will be playing 'Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan ,' a highly anticipated character from Robert Jordan's eponymous and epic fantasy book series upon which the show is based. Elaida is a ruthlessly powerful Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, as proficient in politicking as she is in channeling. She has a deep history with Moiraine (Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), and scores to settle with both of them when she returns to the White Tower. Elaida is someone who believes in ends over means, and is willing to do anything to achieve what she envisions to be the greater good.

Shohreh Aghdashloo is an Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress renowned for her powerful and nuanced performances. Born in Tehran, she began her career on the Iranian stage before gaining recognition in films like "The Chess Game of the Wind." After relocating to the United States, she achieved critical acclaim for her role in "House of Sand and Fog" (2003), which earned her an Oscar nomination, making history as the first Iranian actress to do so.

Aghdashloo's diverse career spans film, television, and theatre. She has delivered memorable performances in films like "The Nativity Story," "The Stoning of Soraya M." (for which she won a Satellite Award), and "The Lake House," and won an Emmy for her portrayal of Sajida Talfah in the miniseries "House of Saddam." Her recent work includes voice acting in the Netflix film "Damsel" and the video game "Assassin's Creed Mirage," and a role in the animated series "Arcane." On television, she is known for her appearances in "24," "The Expanse" (as Chrisjen Avasarala), and "The Punisher."

Aghdashloo's talent extends beyond the screen, with stage credits including "House of Bernarda Alba" and voice work in video games like "Mass Effect" and "Destiny." She is also a celebrated audiobook narrator and the author of the memoir "The Alley of Love and Yellow Jasmines." In recognition of her artistic achievements and commitment to social justice, she was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2015.

About The Wheel of Time

Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy book series The Wheel of Time, a humble farm boy, Rand al'Thor, learns he is The Dragon Reborn - a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world ... or break it. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches.

After defeating Ishamael at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends at Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season Three, the threats against the Light are multiplying: the White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon... including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both. As the ties to his past begin to unravel, and his corrupted power grows stronger, Rand becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene. These powerful women, who started the series as teacher and student, must now work together to prevent the Dragon from turning to the Dark... no matter the cost.

The Wheel of Time stars Rosamund Pike (Saltburn, Gone Girl) as Moiraine Damodred, Daniel Henney (Criminal Minds) as al'Lan Mandragoran, Josha Stradowski (Gran Turismo) as Rand al'Thor, Zoë Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve al'Meara, Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) as Egwene al'Vere, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn (Rogue Heroes) as Mat Cauthon, Ceara Coveney (Young Wallander) as Elayne Trakand, Kate Fleetwood (Harlots) as Leandrin Guirale, Natasha O'Keefe (Peaky Blinders) as Lanfear, Ayoola Smart (Killing Eve) as Aviendha, and Kae Alexander (Game of Thrones) as Min Farshaw.

The Wheel of Time was adapted for television by executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hemlock Grove). Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon of iwot productions (Winter Dragon), Ted Field of Radar Pictures (Jumanji: The Next Level, Winter Dragon), Mike Weber (Jumanji: The Next Level, Beirut), Marigo Kehoe (Outlander, The Crown), Ciaran Donnelly (Kin), Justine Juel Gillmer (The Survivor, Halo), Dave Hill (Game of Thrones) and Rosamund Pike (Saltburn, Gone Girl) also serve as executive producers. The Wheel of Time is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
