NEW YORK - April 17, 2025 - Today, SundanceTV and Sundance Now announced the compelling four-part true crime docu-series, The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster, will premiere Thursday, July 17 on both platforms and will also be available to stream on AMC+; the series debuts at 10pm ET/PT on SundanceTV. Additional episodes will premiere weekly on Thursdays on all three platforms. Directed and executive produced by Theo Love (The Legend of Cocaine Island) with Alex Gibney's Jigsaw Productions (Wise Guy: David Chase & The Sopranos, Tiger) producing, the gripping series reveals a chilling secret that lies beneath the colorful world of Furry.
The series will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival on Tuesday, June 10, where the first two episodes will be screening at AMC 19th Street East at 8:30pm ET, followed by a Q&A panel with Love and producer Julia Lindau, moderated by Jigsaw Productions' Alex Gibney.
A riveting true crime docu-series, The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster unpacks the 2018 event known in the Furry community as the "Furry Zoosadist Leaks," which exposed a horrifying conspiracy of animal abuse lurking beneath the Fandom's playful exterior. The series follows the pack of dedicated vigilantes who teamed up to bring down the monsters behind the masks. Navigating the line between amateur sleuthing and official police investigation, the Furry Detectives exposed a ring of animal abusers, fought for victims, and defended their community from the evil within.
The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster, a Sundance Now Original Series, is directed and executive produced by Theo Love. Alex Gibney's Jigsaw Productions produces with the company's Razan Ghalayini, Richard Perello and Taylor Rogers serving as executive producers. Julia Lindau serves as producer.
