ANDSCAPE ANNOUNCES NEXT FILM IN ITS &360 ANTHOLOGY SERIES, IMPORTED, TO PREMIERE ON HULU AUGUST 28TH
The Film Explores How American Basketball Players Turn An Unexpected Detour Into A Global Triumph
NEW YORK, NY - August 19, 2025 - Andscape, the leading Black content studio, today announced the premiere of its newest &360 documentary, IMPORTED, debuting exclusively on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on August 28, 2025. Directed by Fiz Olajide in her feature debut, the film tells the story of American athletes who, after falling short of their NBA dreams, discover purpose, growth, and global fandom on courts around the world.
Chasing a lifelong dream of playing professional basketball, and on the brink of their athletic prime, these men and women discover unexpected growth and success as international ballers when they decide to play overseas. Immersing themselves in foreign cultures while discovering the intense and exhilarating global fandom for basketball, these athletes turn an unwanted detour into a transformative and fulfilling chapter in the pursuit of their dreams.
IMPORTED is produced by Marginal MediaWorks' Sanjay M. Sharma and Milan Chakraborty, and Improbable Media's Jay Williams and Jonathan E. Stern. The film marks Marginal's continued expansion into documentary features and its first sports doc, right off the heels of its buzzy Tribeca music doc "The Rose: Come Back To Me." Marginal's next fiction project will premiere at TIFF50.
The film features, amongst others, athletes James Gist, Edgar Sosa, Lindsey Pulliam, as well as Mike Creppy, Jr. himself, who also produced and whose real-life journeys illuminate the challenges and triumphs of finding success beyond the NBA. The film is Executive Produced by Andscape's Jason Aidoo and Dwayne Bray.
IMPORTED continues Andscape's commitment to telling culturally resonant, human-centered stories through its acclaimed &360 series, offering a powerful look at sport, identity, and the transformative power of reinvention. Previous Andscape titles in the &360 anthology series include HIP HOP AND THE WHITE HOUSE, and BREAKIN' ON THE ONE.
