Love, Fights, and Everything in Between: 'Badly in Love' Returns for Season 2

If you wanted more chaos, charm, and heart-on-the-sleeve romance, you're in for a treat - Netflix is officially renewing the Japanese romance reality series Badly in Love for Season 2.

Fueled by its huge popularity and fan demand, the breakout series follows yankii (delinquent youth) as they clash, connect, and fall in love with raw honesty.

Since its debut, Badly in Love has sparked major buzz in Japan and beyond, reaching No. 8 on the Netflix Global Top 10 (Non-English) Series list and appearing in the Top 10 rankings across Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

In Japan, social media reactions exploded within hours of the show's release, driving rapid viewership growth and cementing it as a cultural moment. Audiences connected deeply with the cast's unfiltered emotions, fierce loyalty, and unexpected tenderness - a raw portrayal of yankii youth culture that led to an outpouring of requests for Season 2.

Season 2 Moves to the Seaside

Season 1 was all neon heat and intensity. Season 2 shifts gears, keeping that heat while hinting at something new. With a sunset-lit coastline and a royal-blue anchor woven into the logo, the new look invites speculation about where the next chapter will unfold. As the scenery shifts, viewers will watch a new cast of yankii men and women navigate fresh conflicts, deeper bonds, and moments of explosive emotion.

In a note to fans, producer MEGUMI shared her excitement for what comes next - reflecting on the unexpected global love Season 1 received and hinting at how Season 2 will go even deeper: "I'm truly delighted that Season 2 has been greenlit so quickly. Since the series' release, it has been incredibly meaningful for all of us to see the yankii culture - something we consider to be 'ultra-Japan' - reach not only audiences in Japan, but viewers around the world. We will continue to pour our hearts into Season 2 so that audiences can experience even more of the raw charm of yankii who live every moment to the fullest," she says.

Stay tuned for Badly in Love Season 2, only on Netflix. Season 1 is now streaming.
