ITV'S CAPTIVATING POLICE PROCEDURAL SERIES, "WINTER," BEGINS FILMING IN BRISTOL AND BELGIUM, WHILST FURTHER CASTING IS ANNOUNCED ALONGSIDE RICHARD ARMITAGE AND ANNABEL SCHOLEY

** THE SERIES IS PRODUCED BY EAGLE EYE DRAMA, CO-PRODUCED WITH MASTERPIECE IN ASSOCIATION WITH ITV STUDIOS AND HAPPY DUCK FILMS**

ITV's six-part police procedural, Winter, has commenced filming in Bristol and Belgium with further casting announced.

The series features an unconventional forensic pathologist, Dr Ethan Winter, played by Richard Armitage (Missing You, Red Eye, Fool Me Once), whose brilliance, sharp intellect and rule-breaking approach helps the police solve some of the most complex murder cases.

Winter possesses an extraordinary analytical mind, capable of impeccable deductive reasoning which perfectly complements DI Lauren Bell, played by Annabel Scholey (The Sixth Commandment, Rivals, The Split), a meticulous, no-nonsense detective who is as driven as Winter when working on a case. Together they make a formidable team, as Winter's genius and insight into the victims is invaluable to Bell and her murder squad detectives.

Further casting alongside Richard and Annabel includes Jamie Kenna (House of the Dragon, Brassic), Carlotta Banat (Heads of State, 3 Body Problem), Josh Barrow (Hostage, Vera, Dear England), Adwoa Akoto (The Sandman, Surface), Jay Taylor (Manhunt, Ten Percent, Broken Bird), Rishi Rian (Ridley, Damaged), Deirdre Mullins (Bad Sisters, The Couple Next Door), Ellis Elijah (Mammoth) and Evie Coles (The Lady Grace Mysteries).

Each episode features its own compelling, self-contained crime story, with resulting guest casting. A personal story thread, the unsolved murder of someone close to Winter, runs beneath the six-part series, as it still haunts his every move and he is intent on unofficially investigating the case and bringing the murderer to justice.

Winter is an Eagle Eye Drama production co-produced with MASTERPIECE and in association with ITV Studios.

The series is commissioned by ITV's Director of Drama Polly Hill and Drama Commissioner Callum Dziedzic. Callum will oversee production of Winter on behalf of the broadcaster. The series will air on ITV and STV and be available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player.

Winter will be directed by Dries Vos (The Couple Next Door, Professor T) and Kaat Beels (Professor T, The Twelve) with Matt Baker (Professor T) producing the series. Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino will executive produce the series on behalf of Eagle Eye Drama, part of ITV Studios.

The series is adapted by David Allison (The Couple Next Door) and Mark Greig (Ashes to Ashes).

Eagle Eye Drama creates bespoke and original British drama and also specialises in producing successful UK adaptations of international scripted formats for English speaking audiences. The company's slate of returnable hit series includes Professor T (starring Ben Miller, Juliet Stevenson, Frances de la Tour and Zoë Wanamaker) for ITV, The Couple Next Door and Patience, Hotel Portofino, and Mark Gatiss' detective series Bookish starring Mark Gatiss and Polly Walker.

The series will be broadcast and streamed in the US by MASTERPIECE PBS.

Susanne Simpson is the Head of Scripted Content and Executive Producer of MASTERPIECE

MASTERPIECE is presented on PBS by GBH Boston.

Winter is supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter.

ITV Studios are responsible for the international distribution of the format.

The series is based on the television series Balthazar, created by Clothilde Jamin and Clélia Constantine and produced by Beaubourg Stories.
