Marwan Kenzari and Rianne van Rompaey in Psychological Thriller 'The Silence'

Marwan Kenzari and Rianne van Rompaey play the leading roles in the new Dutch series The Silence, a psychological thriller about trust and hidden truths. For Van Rompaey, who broke through internationally as a top model, the series marks her Netflix debut. The cast also includes major names such as Rifka Lodeizen, Juliëtte van Ardenne, Anniek Pheifer, Renée Soutendijk, Hans Kesting, and Jochum ten Haaf. The Silence is based on the book The Quiet Girl by S.F. Kosa and is created by Nico Moolenaar, who has a multi-year collaboration with Netflix. He also wrote the screenplay together with Pieter De Graeve and will co-produce the series together with Maarten Swart on behalf of Kaap Holland Series in collaboration with Red Herring. The series is directed by Max Porcelijn.

Marwan Kenzari on The Silence: "A man searches for his wife. A staggering discovery leaves Tarik completely in the dark. I was immediately attracted to the nightmarish quality of this story."

"It's a special step for me to make my Netflix debut with The Silence," says Rianne Van Rompaey. "I was immediately drawn to the complexity of the script and how it doesn't shy away from difficult subjects. The psychology of my character, Sara, and the way she deals with the past, present and future touches me deeply. She keeps certain things to herself, and it's precisely that tension between what you share and what you keep hidden that makes her such an interesting character to play."

Nico Moolenaar: "With The Silence, I'm making the most uncompromising thriller of my career. I have never been this excited about a project. Being able to continue my collaboration with Netflix on a series this intense and suspenseful feels like a privilege. With Marwan Kenzari in the lead, a cast of exceptional calibre, and Max Porcelijn in the director's chair, I know we have something special on our hands."
