FOX Entertainment Studios Signs First-Look Deal with Writer, Actor, and Creator River Gallo

Partnership Covers Scripted Television and Motion Picture Projects

Los Angeles, CA - March 6, 2026 - FOX Entertainment Studios (FES) has entered into a first-look deal with writer, actor, and creator River Gallo for scripted television and motion picture projects. Under the agreement, Gallo will develop and produce new, platform agnostic content across all television, streaming, and feature film genres, furthering FOX Entertainment Studios' commitment to collaborating with bold, distinctive creative voices and reaching audiences where they are.

Gallo is the star, writer and creator of Ponyboi, the inaugural feature film produced under FOX Entertainment Studios' new independent film label, Tideline. The critically acclaimed film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it was selected for the Narrative Feature Competition and received a Grand Jury Prize nomination, and has since earned widespread recognition on the international festival circuit.

"River is a fearless storyteller with a singular voice and a powerful point of view," said Hannah Pillemer, Head of Scripted, FOX Entertainment Studios. "From the moment we began working together on Ponyboi, it was clear that River brings originality, emotional depth and creative ambition to everything they do. Written by and starring Gallo, Ponyboi has garnered numerous accolades, including Best Narrative Feature at NewFest: New York's LGBT Film Festival and Best Performance for Gallo at the Torino Film Festival, along with additional honors from organizations such as ReFrame, the New Jersey Film Critics Circle and LesGaiCineMad in Madrid. The film has also received a 2026 GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Film - Limited Theatrical Release, further underscoring the cultural impact of Gallo's work and storytelling.

As a multi-hyphenate artist, Gallo is known for character-driven storytelling that challenges convention and centers underrepresented perspectives. Through this first-look partnership, they will collaborate closely with FOX Entertainment Studios to develop a slate of original scripted projects.
