Dangerous Truth (Das zweite Attentat) - Conspiracy thriller inspired by real events

Exclusive U.S. Premiere

Thursday, April 9 (Two episodes weekly)

"A gripping binge-watch... The blend of real historical background and fiction works smoothly... smartly staged and compellingly acted." - Serienjunkies.de

"An engrossing political thriller with striking visuals, gripping twists and a first-class cast." - Mitteldeutsche Zeitung

Inspired by real events surrounding the faulty intelligence that helped justify the 2003 invasion of Iraq, this ambitious six-part political thriller follows a man drawn into a deadly conspiracy buried inside the European intelligence services.

Alex Jaromin (Noah Saavedra, Naked) is a young photographer who has spent most of his life hiding under a false identity in Athens as part of a witness protection program. Twenty years earlier, he survived a brutal attack that killed his father - a German army sniper - and his sister.

When Alex's mother suddenly dies, long-buried secrets begin to surface. He learns that the attack on his family may not have been the work of Serbian extremists, as he was always told. Instead, his father may have been involved in a covert mission tied to a mysterious Iraqi informant known as "Curveball" whose claims about weapons of mass destruction helped push the world toward war.

Determined to uncover the truth, Alex follows a trail that leads from Athens to the corridors of power in Berlin - and to a political scandal that powerful figures would rather keep buried. As he digs deeper, it becomes clear that exposing the truth could cost him his life.

Co-starring Torben Liebrecht (Babylon Berlin, Altered Carbon).

(6 episodes x 45 minutes, German with English subtitles)

Inspired by true events, in 18th-century Poland, an illiterate serf, Ignac (award-winning actor Bartosz Bielenia, star of the Oscar-nominated Corpus Christi with several Best Actor wins), embarks on a perilous quest to prove his noble heritage, while unexpectedly getting entangled in a rebellion led by historical figure General Tadeusz "Kos" Kościuszko (Jacek Braciak, Leave No Traces).

Spring of 1794, Poland is in turmoil. "Kos" returns to Poland and plans to start an uprising against the Russians by mobilizing the Polish nobility and peasants. He is accompanied by his faithful friend and former slave, Domingo (Jason Mitchell, Straight Outta Compton, Mudbound). Kościuszko is followed by a ruthless Russian captain, Dunin (Robert Więckiewicz), who wants to capture the general at any cost before he triggers a national rebellion.

Meanwhile, a young peasant, Ignac (Bartosz Bielenia), a noble bastard, dreams of receiving his coat of arms and property from his illegitimate parent, Duchnowski (Andrzej Seweryn), who includes him in his will just before his death. When his father dies, the boy has to flee from his half-brother Stanisław (Piotr Pacek), who wants to prevent the execution of his father's will. Ignac steals the will and has just two days to appear in court to prove his title of nobility. In his escape, Ignac meets Domingo. A strong bond of understanding forms between the men, even though they do not speak each other's languages. They end up at the manor house of the Colonel's Wife (Agnieszka Grochowska), where Kościuszko hides while waiting for negotiations with the magnates.

Kos is distrustful of Ignac and keeps him under arrest. Still, at the decisive moment, the fate of the uprising will lie in the hands of the inconspicuous noble bastard. When the moment of trial arrives, Ignac will have to choose - whether to follow his dream of nobility or join "Kos" and fight for the highest stakes with him.

Winner of the Golden Lion (Top Honor) for Best Film as well as Best Editing, Best Makeup, and Best Supporting Actor (Robert Wieckiewicz) at the prestigious Polish film festival Gdynia among several other festival awards and a Directors Guild of Poland nomination, Scarborn is a thrilling, modern, action-packed, and universal story about people who overcome prejudice and differences in the name of freedom and equality.
