CNN FlashDoc "Chasing Soccer Glory: America's Long Game" Now Streaming on the CNN App

NEW YORK, NY - (June 17, 2026) - CNN today announced the premiere of its latest CNN FlashDoc, Chasing Soccer Glory: America's Long Game, an exploration of soccer's rise in the United States and the decades-long pursuit of international success that has captivated generations of American fans. The documentary special is now streaming at CNN.com/Watch and on the CNN app and will air Sunday, June 21 at 8pm ET on CNN, as the world's biggest sporting event returns to U.S. soil.

More than three decades after the World Cup last came to the United States, Chasing Soccer Glory examines how soccer evolved from a niche sport into a cultural force, and why the promise of the U.S. Men's National Team remains unfulfilled. The hour traces the sport's remarkable growth in America from the rise of Major League Soccer, the dominance of the U.S. Women's National Team and the emergence of a new generation of talent carrying the hopes of a nation.

Anchoring the special are some of the most influential voices in American soccer, including World Cup champions Carli Lloyd and Ali Krieger and U.S. Men's National Team stars Matt Freese, Tab Ramos and Tim Howard, whose perspectives illuminate the divergent paths of the women's and men's programs, and the question of whether the United States can finally fulfill its long-held World Cup ambitions.

The CNN FlashDocs unit delivers sharp, in-the-moment storytelling on the issues shaping culture and conversation today.
