Netflix Reveals First Look and Date for Dutch Series 'The Perfect Lie'
What begins as a close-knit group of friends with seemingly perfect lives slowly turns into a web of secrets, lies, and distrust. These growing tensions form the heart of The Perfect Lie, the new Dutch Netflix drama series, written by Dorien Goertzen with Jop Esmeijer as co-writer and based on the best-selling novel The Dinner Club by Saskia Noort. Today, Netflix reveals the first images from the series, which will be available worldwide from September 10, 2026.
The leading roles are played by Loes Haverkort, Teun Luijkx, Remko Vrijdag, Rifka Lodeizen, Charlie-Chan Dagelet, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen, Noortje Herlaar, and Edwin Jonker. The Perfect Lie is produced by Fiction Valley and directed by Dana Nechushtan and Margien Rogaar.
"It was a wonderful challenge to reinvent the well-known story of The Perfect Lie together with Jop Esmeijer and translate it into a series format in which tension is always at the forefront," says Goertzen. "We chose a different narrative structure and gave both the story and the characters a modern, contemporary twist. The dream cast brings the characters to life in a way that exceeded all our expectations. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together with such a strong creative team, under the direction of Dana Nechushtan, and I cannot wait for the series to be available on Netflix soon."
About The Perfect Lie
When Karen moves with her family to Bergen, they are warmly welcomed into the dinner club, a seductive group of friends who fully indulge in an extravagant and hedonistic lifestyle. Until one of the luxurious villas goes up in flames, and their friend Evert is killed. His wife and children barely survive. Karen soon discovers that their close friendship is held together by lies. Everyone has something to hide. Nothing is what it seems. So Karen sets out in search of the truth, but at what cost?
