ABBOTT ELEMENTARY (ABC) - Creator Quinta Brunson has signed a five-year overall deal with 20th Television. There she'll develop new series projects for the studio via her Fifth Chance Productions banner. Brunson was previously exclusive to Warner Bros. Television, producer of the Emmy-winning series. BOROUGHS, THE (Netflix) - The streamer has opted not to proceed with a second season of the series. (Deadline.com, 6/17)
CONVICTION (Hulu) - Linda Emond has joined the cast of the Elisabeth Moss-led drama series while Zainab Jah, Ashley Zukerman, and Jose Zúñiga have booked recurring roles No character details were given. (Variety.com, 6/15)
COUNT MY LIES (Hulu) - François Arnaud will recur on the limited series as Danny, a friend of Lindsay Lohan's character, Violet. (Deadline.com, 6/16)
DIRTY (Amazon) - Samantha Morton will star opposite Phoebe Dynevor in the upcoming drama: "The series follows trainee Detective Eva Bennett, played by Dynevor, who returns to Manchester and joins a new homicide investigation run by her fearsome estranged mother - the legendary Detective Chief Inspector Lois Mercer, played by Morton." DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL (Peacock) - Author Matt Dinniman confirmed the live-action adaptation of his book series at the streamer has been ordered to series. (@mattdinniman, 6/18)
GHOSTFORCE EVOLUTION (Netflix, New!) - The streamer has landed the follow-up animated series from Zag featuring 26 half-hour episodes and a 44-minute special: "Set in New York City, the series follows teens Andy, Liv and Mike as they juggle school, friendships and first crushes while secretly serving as members of the Ghost Force, a team tasked with protecting the city from supernatural threats. Guided by scientist Luna Jones, the trio confronts villains unleashed by Prince Onara and the imprisoned ghost king Buriburi." Jeremy Zag is behind both series. (Variety.com, 6/15)
HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (HBO) - Peter Serafinowicz has been cast as Peeves the Poltergeist in the TV series. The character didn't appear in any of the original "Harry Potter" movies. (Variety.com, 6/15)
MATLOCK (CBS) - Former writer John Lowe has filed a lawsuit against CBS Studios, Jennie Snyder Urman, Nicki Renna, and Jeffrey Lieber over his termination from the series "after raising concerns about alleged racist and sexual comments made by showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman." (Deadline.com, 6/17)
MONOPOLY (Hulu) - The streamer has passed on the drama pilot, about two rival real estate developers in Manhattan (Edgar Ramírez and Jacob Scipio) who risk everything - wealth, family and their souls - as their ambition turns into obsession, and their partnership turns into war. NATURALIST, THE (ABC, New!) - Andrew Karlsruher has sold a new drama to the Alphabet based on Andrew Mayne's novel: "The series is described as a procedural that follows a "brilliant but socially estranged biologist who uses the laws of animal behavior to hunt human predators." The twist is that the protagonist has his own dark secrets, and he turns every case into a study of himself." Veritas Entertainment's Peter Jaysen and Alan Gasmer will also executive produce alongside Danny Cannon. Andy Cutler is a producer. (Variety.com, 6/18)
NEW YORK KNICKS DOCUMENTARY SERIES (HBO, New!) - Ben Stiller confirmed he is spearheading a multi-part documentary series about the New York Knicks for HBO and A24. The project promises to "trace the full arc of the franchise from the '90s to the improbable, record-breaking run that finally returned a championship to New York." No other details were given. (Deadline.com, 6/17)
PINNACLE, THE (Hulu, New!) - Damon Cardasis and Jamieson Baker have sold a new drama to the streamer: "Set in the cutthroat world of New York City real estate, The Pinnacle is the story of ambitious and streetsmart Charlie Mahoney, who is catapulted to the heart of the billionaire Van Buren family and their dazzling penthouse on New York's Billionaire's Row after becoming the sobriety companion to their troubled son, Theo. As he gains their trust and acclimates to their sumptuous lifestyle, Charlie must navigate scheming staff, suspicious friends and romantic entanglements while hiding a secret of his own and securing his permanent place in New York's ultra wealthy circles." George Stephanopoulos, Ali Wentworth, Alyssa Mastromonaco, and Tracy Underwood will also executive produce for Bedby8, Hustle & Punch, and 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 6/16)
RETROACTIVE (Hulu, New!) - Bobak Esfarjani is spearheading a TV take based on Ibrahim Moustafa's graphic novel at the streamer: "In the near future, the discovery of time travel is unknown to the public, but a new war rages between global powers as they exploit critical information from the past." Bruce Miller, Priscilla Porianda, Fabrice Giger, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, and Ben Roberts will also executive produce for White Oak Pictures, Humanoids Studios, Alcon Television Group, 20th Television, and MGM Television. ROCK CITY (Hulu, New!) - Janelle James and David Caspe are set to team for a new comedy at the streamer: "Written and executive produced by James and Caspe, in Rock City, a woman returns to her hometown in the Virgin Islands after she inherits a local tourist trap from her estranged father but quickly realizes that she's been left much more than a simple beachfront bar and grill." ROCKFORD FILES, THE (NBC) - David Boreanaz has revealed that his son Jaden guest stars in the pilot episode of the series. (Deadline.com, 6/15)
SEX CRIMINALS (Amazon) - Pamela Adlon has joined the cast of the comic book-turned-TV series as Bev, "Suze's mom"; while BD Wong will recur as Oliver, "a bank manager with a connection to Bev and Suze"; and co-creator Kumail Nanjiani will officially recur as "a character named Dane." SHOP, THE (YouTube) - Travis Bennett and Steelo Brim have been tapped as new hosts of the series, which returns for its ninth season on Monday, June 22. They'll formally take over from LeBron James and Maverick Carter, who will continue to executive produce. (Variety.com, 6/15)
TWISTED METAL (Peacock) - Mark Hamill has been cast in the upcoming season as Pope Charlie Kane, "the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty and estranged father of Sweet Tooth (Joe Seanoa/voice of Will Arnett)." (Deadline.com, 6/15)
UNTITLED DAKOTA FANNING PROJECT (Apple TV) - Grace Gummer has joined the cast of the thriller as Juliana, "the oldest child of Stellan Skarsgård's Brant, who heads up the conglomerate." (Deadline.com, 6/17)
