'The Final Problem' arrives on Netflix on September 25

BASED ON THE BESTSELLING NOVEL BY ARTURO PÉREZ-REVERTE

Netflix today announced the premiere date for The Final Problem, the new limited series starring Jose Coronado (The Truthers, The Snow Girl), María Valverde (Sounds Like Love, All We Cannot See), Martiño Rivas (Snakes and Ladders, Cable Girls), and Maribel Verdú (Pan's Labyrinth, Elite), among others. Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, The Final Problem will premiere on Netflix on September 25.

In the spring of 1959, thirteen people find themselves stranded by a violent storm on a small island off the coast of Mallorca. No one could imagine what is about to unfold at the secluded hotel where they are staying: Elisa Mander, a quiet English tourist, is found dead. What initially appears to be a suicide soon reveals itself to be something far more disturbing a murder.

Basil (Jose Coronado), a retired actor who once portrayed Sherlock Holmes on the big screen, unexpectedly finds himself taking on the role of investigator. As suspicion spreads among the guest, including Adela Figueroa (María Valverde), a mysterious young woman travelling with a friend, he joins forces with Foxá (Martiño Rivas), an aspiring thriller writer, to search every corner of the luxurious hotel for answers, all while testing the composure of Mrs. Ausländer (Maribel Verdú), the hotel's manager.

In a place where no one can leave and no one can arrive, every guest and member of staff becomes a suspect in a crime that proves to be far more intricate and elusive than anyone could have imagined. The Final Problem is a sophisticated adaptation of one of Arturo Pérez-Reverte's bestselling novels, a period thriller filled with secrets, mystery, and unexpected twists.

The cast is rounded out by Gonzalo de Castro ( Políticamente incorrectos, La ternura ) as Fonseca, an ambitious film director, and Cristina Kovani ( Muted, La caza: Guadiana ) who plays a young and passionate actress. The ensemble also features José Condessa (Cacau, Turn of the Tide) and Pepón Nieto (Smiley, A Remarkable Tale ), among many others.

The miniseries is produced by Mod Producciones, with Fernando Bovaira (While at War, La Fortuna) serving as producer, Urko Errazquin (The Champion, Two Many Chefs) as executive producer, and Alberto Macías, Carlos Molinero, and Marisol Farré as screenwriters. It is directed by Félix Viscarret (Una vida no tan simple, Staring at Strangers ).
