CABLE GUY, THE (Hulu) - Natasha Rothwell has been cast in the film-turned-TV series pilot as Gina, "Steven's (Damon Wayans, Jr.) sister. She's an oddball with a dark sense of humor who lives at home with their parents in the aftermath of an injury." (Deadline.com, 7/23)
CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Da'Vinchi has joined the cast of the veteran drama as Marcus Burke, "a firefighter candidate at Firehouse 51. Roguish and funny with a wry sense of humor, he's also a little defiant." (Deadline.com, 7/23)
CHICKS (Hulu) - Louis Cancelmi has signed onto the drama pilot starring Ellen Pompeo and Jodie Whittaker as Danny McKeever, "a guy with a poet's soul and a con-man's dreams who's been stuck running his family's funeral home for decades. So he can't believe his luck when his high school sweetheart Chickie and her enticing sister Doreen saunter back into his life with the proposition to start up a criminal partnership." CONVICTION (Hulu) - Emmy winner Liza Colón-Zayas will recur on the Elisabeth Moss-led drama in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com, 7/20)
CROSS (Amazon) - Robin Givens will recur on the show's third season as Senator Mulrooney, "an intellectual conservative, overbearing both as a parent and a partner. She is the wife of a doctor and the mother of a son, whose problems the Senator keeps a closely guarded secret." (Deadline.com, 7/24)
CRUTCH (Paramount+) - The streamer has nixed its "The Neighborhood" offshoot starring Tracy Morgan after one season. (Deadline.com, 7/24)
DISCRETION (Paramount+) - Josh Lucas will star opposite Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning in the upcoming drama as Greg, "a lawyer and the husband of Kidman's powerful and formidable corporate law partner at the same prestigious firm entangled in a dark web of NDAs." (Deadline.com, 7/20)
INDUSTRY (HBO) - Zosia Mamet is bound for the show's final season as Carmen Dame, "a fitness influencer-turned-wellness tech founder and CEO." (Deadline.com, 7/23)
LAW & ORDER (NBC) - James Badge Dale is joining the cast of the series where he'll succeed Reid Scott as Senior Detective. Scott's Vincent Riley will appear in a few episodes this season to wrap his character's arc before Dale's is introduced. His exit is reported as amicable. (Deadline.com, 7/22)
LEONARD AND HUNGRY PAUL (Wonder Project, New!) - The streamer has acquired the six-part half-hour series from Avalon and Subotica, narrated by Oscar winner Julia Roberts: "Based on the novel of the same name, the feel-good series follows two board-gaming friends in their thirties who meander through leafy suburban life finding solace in their quiet routines. Unexpected events prompt both men to meet a world that is suddenly wider and full of unfamiliar possibilities." Alex Lawther, Laurie Kynaston, and Jamie-Lee O'Donnell star in the project, which originated on RTÉ and BBC Northern Ireland in 2025. (Variety.com, 7/23)
MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, THE (MGM+) - The upcoming western has cast Joshua Close as Skelton, who is "cold, calculating, and always three steps ahead"; Ken Yamamura as Kenjiro "Kenji", "who is warm and endlessly curious"; Michael Rubenfeld as Eli "Wick" Kagan, "a da Vinci-esque genius inventor"; and Joel Nankervis as Jebidah "Jeb" Campbell, "who is quick-witted, impulsive, and bursting with nervous energy." They join the previously cast Matt Dillon as Chris Adams, Will Patton as Cyrus T. Clemons, Michael Ealy as Vin Tanner, Danny Pino as Santiago "Santi" Vega, Joanne Froggatt as Harriet Talbot, and Amy Forsyth as Katie "Deadeye" Dalton. (Deadline.com, 7/21)
REWARDING (Wonder Project, New!) - The six-part comedy series has been commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland and Wonder Project: "The series is set on the frontlines of domiciliary care and follows the messy lives of support workers and their disabled and neurodivergent clients." Starring Vittorio Angelone and Hannah McClean, the project - due in late 2026 - comes from Conker Pictures. (Variety.com, 7/23)
SCRUBS (REBOOT SERIES) (ABC) - Ava Bunn's Sam Tosh has been promoted to regular for the series' second season. Additionally, Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley, Neil Flynn, and Rachel Bilson will continue to recur, as will Jacob Dudman (Asher Green), David Gridley (Blake Lewis), Layla Mohammadi (Amara Hadi) and Amanda Morrow (Dashana Trainor). Not due back are Joel Kim Booster's Dr. Park and X Mayo's Charge Nurse Raymond. (Deadline.com, 7/20)
SEX CRIMINALS (Amazon) - Joseph Lee and Sunita Mani will both recur on the comic book-turned-TV series as Detective Franklin and Lucy, respectively. No other details were given. (Deadline.com, 7/21)
SHOGUN (FX) - Rick Kumazawa will recur on the second season of the period drama as Gaspar. No other details were given. (Deadline.com, 7/23)
STILLWATER (Amazon) - The comic book-turned-TV series from Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray is officially a go at Amazon MGM Studios. Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Robbie Rogers, Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller, Chip Zdarsky, and Jonathan Gabay will also executive produce for Berlanti Productions and Skybound Entertainment. THUNDER ROAD (AMC) - Devon Allman will recur on NASCAR drama as Jimmy Fuchs, "a silver-tongued Southern operator whose easy charm and "sportsman's club" credentials barely conceal the danger underneath." (Deadline.com, 7/23)
UNTITLED YOUNG LEE SHAW PREQUEL SERIES (Apple TV) - Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, and Nyasha Hatendi are the latest bound for the "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" spin-off series. No character details however were given. (Deadline.com, 7/21)
YOU & ME (Wonder Project, New!) - The three-part drama will make its U.S. debut August 6 on the service: "The series stars Harry Lawtey and Jessica Barden and explores love, loss and the possibility of finding happiness again after a profound tragedy." Russell T Davies is among the executive producers of the series, which aired on ITVX in 2023. (Variety.com, 7/23)
