Netflix Confirms Production and Cast of New Period Action Film 'Dochabi' (WT)

Netflix has announced the production and cast of a new period action drama film, Dochabi (WT), which is the native Korean word for dokkaebi, the Korean goblin.

Dochabi (WT) is a period action drama about Tae-san, a former soldier who lives in hiding deep in the mountains with a Jurchen woman named Ahai, near the borderlands where farmers have formed settlements. When the commander Yi Do-gwan hunts these farmers under a mask, Tae-san fights back, coming to be known as "Dochabi."

Kim Do-hoon (Moving, Your Honor, Love Scout) plays Tae-san, bringing his signature mix of emotional nuance and high-intensity action to the role. Tae-san becomes entangled in a mysterious conspiracy by masked figures and is framed as the invaders' ringleader. Amid desperation, he survives like a monster and fights like a ghost, eventually becoming the "Dochabi" that protects people. The versatile Jun Jong-seo (Project Y, Ballerina, The Call) takes on the role of Ahai, a Jurchen woman in hiding with Tae-san, whose superior agility and martial prowess shine as she fights alongside him. The charismatic and sharp Lee Joon-gi (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Flower of Evil) transforms into Yi Do-gwan, the commander of the border region who harbors a deep hunger for power.

Lee Sang-yi (Bloodhounds, GOOD BOY) showcases a strong performance as Park Se-ryong, an inspector investigating rumors of masked figures appearing in the north. Harboring suspicion towards Yi Do-gwan, Park Se-ryong adds tension to the story. Bae In-hyuk (Under the Queen's Umbrella, Cheer Up) intricately portrays the Crown Prince Yeolhwagun, who carries a deep sense of responsibility and compassion for the people suffering at the hands of invaders.

Dochabi (WT) is the newest film from director An Tae-jin, whose debut The Night Owl received much critical acclaim. The film is written by Hwang Sung-gu - known for the in-depth character work and solid storytelling of The King's Warden and Anarchist from Colony, and produced by Ondaworks, the company behind Korea's second-highest-grossing film of all time, The King's Warden. With impactful characters, a compelling story, and high-quality production, Dochabi (WT) promises to deliver a fresh and powerful period action drama.

Dochabi (WT) is coming, only on Netflix.
