Paolla Oliveira and Fabiula Nascimento Star in 'Imperfect Mother,' Netflix's New Melodrama, Which Begins Shooting in Rio de Janeiro

São Paulo, August 19, 2026 - Netflix has announced that filming has begun on Imperfect Mother, a new melodrama series starring Paolla Oliveira and Fabiula Nascimento, directed by Rogério Gomes, better known as Papinha, in his first project with Netflix. Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, the series focuses on human relationships shaped by moral dilemmas, difficult choices and the challenges of starting over.

Imperfect Mother, produced by A Fábrica based on an original idea by Eduardo Vaisman and Alice Gomes, is created by Felipe Sant'Angelo, Leonardo Moreira and Mariana Mesquita. Rogério Gomes (Papinha) serves as overall director, with João Gomez and Dayse Amaral Dias also directing. Felipe Sant'Angelo is the lead writer, sharing writing duties with Alice Gomes, Cauê Laratta, Maiara de Paula, Mariana Mesquita and Rodrigo Batista. Cecília Grosso is the producer, with Eduardo Vaisman, Katiuscha Mello and Mônica Juncken serving as executive producers. The main cast also includes Ailton Graça, Aline Borges, Denise Weinberg, David Junior, Emílio de Mello, Felipe Abib, Juliane Araújo, Mariana Molina, Renato Livera and Totia Meireles.

This is Paolla's third project with Netflix, following Turn of the Tide and The Stranger in My Bed (release date TBA), while this marks Fabiula's first project with Netflix.
