ESPN premieres Shooting Stars and 13.4 Seconds To Nowhere Aug. 27

Short documentaries air back-to-back on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes beginning at 9 p.m. ET

ESPN will premiere two original short documentary films, Shooting Stars: The Adrián Solano Story and 13.4 Seconds To Nowhere, on Thursday, Aug. 27. Shooting Stars: The Adrián Solano Story debuts at 9 p.m. ET, followed by 13.4 Seconds To Nowhere at 10 p.m. ET, with both films airing on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

The films were developed through a collaboration between ESPN, ESPN Deportes and Tribeca Studios to bring to life compelling stories at the intersection of sports and the Latino community. Actor, comedian and producer John Leguizamo served as executive producer and a mentor on both projects, providing guidance to the filmmakers and helping shape the storytelling.

Shooting Stars

Directed by Panamanian-Venezuelan filmmaker Daniel Poler, Shooting Stars follows Adrián Solano, a Venezuelan in search of meaning who inadvertently enters the 2017 Nordic World Ski Championships despite having never seen snow in his life. Training on roller skis in one of the hottest places on Earth, his journey to the slopes unravels into a viral sports fiasco. As the internet crowns him "The World's Worst Skier," Adrián reveals that greatness isn't measured in medals, but in the courage to keep going.

13.4 Seconds To Nowhere

Directed by Puerto Rican filmmaker Llaima Suwani Sanfiorenzo, 13.4 Seconds To Nowhere highlights the deeply personal story of a Puerto Rican athlete whose Olympic dreams were shattered by a hurricane. Once defined by a 13.4-second time in the 100-meter dash, years later she seeks to redefine her purpose. Her journey to overcome the setback is not about athletic glory, but about self-discovery and healing as she searches for a new sense of purpose beyond competition.
