(New York, NY) - September 3, 2026 - CNN will provide extensive multiplatform coverage commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, bringing together powerful first-hand accounts, in-depth reporting and conversations with survivors, first responders, family members and journalists who covered the attacks and their aftermath. The events of September 11, 2001 claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans and altered the lives of their families, as well as the first responders, recovery workers and witnesses who survived that day. It was a defining event of the early 21st century, transforming the United States' national security posture at home and abroad. Across platforms, CNN will examine the lasting impact by reflecting on the people and stories that continue to shape how that horrific day is remembered.

Coverage will begin on Sunday, September 6 at 8pmET with a special broadcast of CNN Film 9/11, followed by an exclusive new "Inside the Film" interview with the filmmaker brothers Gédéon and Jules Naudet. The Emmy(R) Award-winning documentary offers a minute-by-minute account of the attacks through the extraordinary footage captured by the Naudet brothers and firefighter James Hanlon as they followed New York City first responders from the first moments of the attacks through the collapse of the Twin Towers.

On Monday, September 7, the premiere of CNN Film Top of the World from Oscar(R)-nominated filmmakers Betsy West and Julie Cohen will air at 8pmET, marking both the 25-year anniversary of 9/11 and the 50thanniversary of the opening Windows on the World, the iconic restaurant atop the World Trade Center.

CNN will provide live 9/11: 25 Years Later coverage starting at 7aET with the network's anchors, correspondents and reporters joining Americans at sites impacted by the terrorist attacks 25 years ago to remember the thousands of victims and reflect on how that day forever changed the country. Kate Bolduan will anchor from Memorial Plaza at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in Lower Manhattan, with Brynn Gingras providing real-time reporting from the commemoration ceremony, as CNN carries the day's events, honors the victims and examines the attacks' continuing impact 25 years later. John Berman and Sara Sidner will also join from New York and Brian Todd will be in Washington, DC as the country marks a national day of remembrance and service. Danny Freeman will be in Shanksville, Pennsylvania as people gather to honor the ultimate sacrifice of the brave passengers and crew on Flight 93 with a commemoration ceremony.
