Scrubs On: 'Miracles of the ER' Premieres November 12 on Netflix

Miracles of the ER, Taiwan's first medical workplace drama centered on an emergency department, is set to premiere on November 12, 2026. Starring Wallace Huo (Forget You Not), Cheryl Yang (Born for the Spotlight), Kent Tsai (Million-Follower Detective), Chan Tzu-hsuan (Let's Talk About CHU), Payne Peng and more, the series delivers high stakes and plenty of heart. From the award-winning creators of Tears on Fire, the series reunites director Isaac Li, writer-director Huang Ching-tsu and producer Jade Lee for a pulse-pounding look at life on the front lines of emergency care.

The newly released teaser art captures the urgency inside Yang-Da University Hospital as its medical team races to save a patient's life. There, Associate Director of Emergency Medicine Chou Cheng-chun (Wallace Huo) takes a chance on an unlikely recruit: Lin Geng-ming (Kent Tsai), a medical graduate with less-than-stellar grades. Alongside fellow first-year residents Tang Hsi (Chan Tzu-hsuan) and Chiang Tung-yen (Payne Peng), Lin must find his footing in a department where every second counts. Together with senior attending physician He Yu-hua (Cheryl Yang), the team navigates medical emergencies, ethical dilemmas and hospital power struggles, learning to trust one another while holding on to the ideals that first drew them to medicine.

Huo plays Chou Cheng-chun, a decisive, highly-skilled emergency physician who mentors younger doctors. He hopes the role helps viewers understand the pressures medical professionals face. "They confront birth, aging, illness and death every day while working under immense pressure," he says. "Yet they keep showing up to save lives. That is no easy thing."

Yang plays He Yu-hua, an accomplished emergency physician whose dedication to her patients is tested by institutional failings and workplace disputes that have left lasting emotional scars. She shares, "What I love about her is that strength doesn't make her immune to pain. After years as a doctor, her first instinct is to assess, act on and solve the problem. She's used to being the person others rely on. But she also feels fear and questions herself. With the white coat on, she has to be a doctor. With it off, she's human too."

Tsai plays Lin Geng-ming, a first-year emergency medicine resident whose eagerness to help patients outstrips his experience. "Doctors are ordinary people. They get scared, make mistakes and sometimes cannot save someone," he says. "But the next day, they still have to show up. I hope viewers see how these characters discover what they believe in and learn to believe in themselves."

Chan plays fellow resident Tang Hsi, a standout medical graduate drawn to emergency medicine for reasons tied to her family. "The realities of the ER gradually challenge her assumptions about being a doctor," she shares. "Through that process, she finds her own answers and discovers the kind of doctor she wants to become."

Rounding out the trio of residents is Peng's Jiang Tung-yen, a brilliant but emotionally guarded resident who graduated top of his class. As he confronts life-and-death decisions alongside his peers, he slowly begins to let them in. Peng reflects, "He seems confident, but beneath that are unresolved struggles and firm convictions about saving lives. I wanted to bring that complexity and determination to the role."

Drawing on field research and conversations with frontline medical professionals, the creators set out to capture more than emergency procedures in Miracles of the ER. The series explores the split-second judgments, unspoken teamwork and complex relationships between doctors, patients and families that shape every shift. "We wanted to push the boundaries of Taiwanese medical drama," says director Li. "Our hope is to create a series rooted in Taiwan, with human stories and issues that resonate across Asia, and perhaps give viewers something deeper to reflect on."

For director-writer Huang, the story is also about finding the strength to keep going. "At its heart, this is a story about ordinary people pursuing their dreams. Through these characters' growth, we hope to help anyone feeling lost find the motivation to keep chasing theirs," he says.
