Netflix Premieres the Documentary 'Unprotected: Murder in Galicia' on November 6

One week before the fictional series Murder in Galicia, arrives on Netflix, Unprotected: Murder in Galicia, the documentary film reconstructing the real-life case that inspired it, premieres on November 6. The film tells the story of Isabel Fuentes, whose case took place in Galicia in 2015 and was marked by the circumstances surrounding the crime and shortcomings in the protection of the victim.

Unprotected: Murder in Galicia, produced by True Crime Factory (Crímenes de Carles Porta), is executive produced by Carles Porta and Pablo Fernández Masó, and directed and written by Jorge Laplace.

"When I first learned about Isabel Fuentes' story, what struck me most was not only the crime itself, but an uncomfortable question I could not explain: How was it possible for her to be murdered in a hospital when it was known that she was in danger?", says Jorge Laplace, director and writer.

About Unprotected: Murder in Galicia

Unprotected: Murder in Galicia is a documentary film that tells the story of Isabel Fuentes. In April 2015, alleged burglars left her on the brink of death in her own home, in the village of Pazos, in Verín. From the very beginning, the Guardia Civil sergeant in charge of the case suspected that the account of what had happened did not add up and tried to protect Isabel from further attack.

Thirty-seven days later, Isabel was murdered in the hospital room where she was recovering. Featuring testimonies from investigators, doctors, family members, neighbours and journalists, the documentary film seeks to understand how this could have happened and why the system failed to protect her.
