SMACKDOWN Delivers Double- and Triple-Digit Increases on Friday
Paced by new and returning hits and strategic scheduling moves, UPN is scoring more gains in adults and women 18-34 than any other network for both the 2005-06 Season and Nov. 2005 Sweep-to-Date. Season-to-date, UPN is up 13% in adults 18-34 (1.7/5) and 10% in women 18-34 (+10%, 2.2/6). UPN is also scoring season-to-date increases in women 18-49 (+6%, 1.9/5).
In the Nov. 2005 Sweep, UPN is outpacing its Nov. 2004 performance by 14% in adults 18-34 (1.6/5) and 18% women 18-34 (2.0/6).
In the midst of the November 2005 Sweep race, UPN topped NBC on two nights (8-10PM) this week in adults 18-34 (Wednesday and Friday) and in women 18-34 (Monday and Wednesday). UPN also beat the WB on three nights this week in adults 18-34 and women 18-34 (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
Through 8 weeks of the season, UPN is up or flat on four of the five nights of the week in adults 18-34, and is up or flat on all five nights of the week in women 18-34.
In both the Nov. Sweep and season-to-date, UPN remains ahead of the WB in adults 18-34 and women 18-34.
MONDAY - 11/7/05
UPN Monday comedy line-up beat original dramas on NBC and WB from 8-10pm among women 18-34 (2.6/7) on the first Monday of the November sweep.
UPN's comedy block also beat WB's "7th Heaven" and the relocated "Related" from 8-10pm among adults 18-34 (1.9/5) and adults 18-49 (1.7/4).
GIRLFRIENDS reached season highs in adults 18-34 (2.3/6) and adults 18-49 (2.0/5)
UPN was up versus the same Monday night last year by 28% in adults 18-34 (1.9/5), 11% in adults 18-49 (1.7/4), 10% in women 18-34 (2.6/7) and 12% in women 18-49 (2.4/6).
TUESDAY � 11/8/05
The ALL-STAR TRIBUTE TO PATTI LABELLE scored the largest audience (3.2mil) for UPN in the time period since premiere week (the R UT THE GIRL finale on 9/20/05).
The PATTI LABELLE tribute improved UPN's Tuesday 9-10pm time period average this season by 9% in adults 18-34 (1.2/3), 30% in adults 18-49 (1.3/3), 27% in women 18-34 (1.9/5), 46% in women 18-49 (1.9/4) and 52% in viewers (3.2mil).
The PATTI LABELLE tribute built on its TOP MODEL encore lead-in by 18% in adults 18-49, 6% in women 18-34, 27% in women 18-49 and 28% in viewers.
PATTI LABELLE was up from the same night a year ago by 8% in adults 18-49, 27% in women 18-49 and 20% in viewers.
WEDNESDAY � 11/9/05
AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL won the 8-9pm hour in adults 18-34 (3.0/9), women 18-34 (4.7/13) and women 18-49 (4.0/10), beating all network competition.
TOP MODEL rose to its largest audience (5.5mil) of the cycle.
VERONICA MARS was above its season average in viewers (3.1mil) and women 18-49 (1.8/4) and matched its season average in adults 18-49 (1.3/3)
UPN ranked third from 8-10pm among women 18-34 (3.3/9), behind only ABC and FOX.
UPN also beat NBC and the WB from 8-10pm in adults 18-34 (2.1/6).
THURSDAY - 11/10/05
Critically acclaimed comedy EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS remains a force for UPN on the intensely competitive Thursday landscape, scoring dramatic double- and triple-digit year-to-year gains in the time period of 42% in adults 18-34 (1.7/5), 54% in adults 18-49 (2.0/6), 133% in women 18-34 (2.1/6), 140% in women 18-49 (2.4/6) and 22% in total viewers (5.3mil).
EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS beat ABC's "Alias" and WB's "Smallville" head-to-head from 8-8:30pm in women 18-34 and women 18-49.
Compared to last week, CHRIS improved 5% in adults 18-49 and averaged 130,000 more viewers. CHRIS held 100% of last week's audience in adults 18-34 and women 18-49.
EVE and CUTS combined to beat ABC's "Night Stalker" and the WB's "Everwood" in the target demo of women 18-34.
EVE (2.8mil) increased its total audience by 17% over last week as CUTS (2.7mil) improved 13% week-to-week.
Versus the same night last year, UPN's new comedy block scored impressive increases in women 18-34 (70%, 1.7/4) and women 18-49 (70%, 1.7/4).
FRIDAY - 11/11/05
FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN beat NBC, FOX and WB from 8-10PM in adults 18-34 (1.7/6). SMACKDOWN ranked first on Friday from 8-10PM in men 18-34 (1.9/7) and male teens (2.8/11) and placed second in men 18-49 (1.8/6). SMACKDOWN also beat the WB's comedies in women 18-34.
SMACKDOWN had its second largest total audience (4.2mil) of the season and matched its best adult 18-34 (1.7/6) rating.
SMACKDOWN improved on the year-ago time period average in 113% in adults 18-34, 27% in adults 18-49, 217% in men 18-34, 64% in men 18-49 and 60% in total viewers.
