Original Programming Performance Paces SCI FI, The Week's Second Most-Watched Entertainment Cable Network in P25-54
NEW YORK -- September 6, 2006 -- Fueled by strong performances from its entire line-up, SCI FI enjoyed its highest-rated week of the year. For the week of August 28 - September 3, 2006, SCI FI was the #2 entertainment cable network in P25-54 (806,000) and ranked in the top ten in all other key demos including P18-49, P18-34, and P2+.
SCI FI's stellar week was powered by a combination of strong original series and a special airing of 'WWE RAW' on Monday night.
Hit freshman series 'Eureka' delivered over 1.3 million P25-54 viewers on Tuesday, and was the second-ranked program of the night, outperforming original episodes of Discovery's 'Dirty Jobs' and A&E Network's 'Dog the Bounty Hunter,' which aired in the same time period.
On Thursday, the season finale of the popular reality competition series 'Who Wants to be a Superhero?' was up 15% from its season-to-date average, withstanding stiff competition from the 'MTV Music Video Awards,' the US Open and College Football, to deliver 802,000 P25-54.
On Monday, 'WWE Raw' (which normally airs on USA and was pre-empted this week for U.S. Open Tennis) averaged a 3.33 HH rating with 2,227,000 P18-49 and 2,022,000 P25-54.
Solid performances from SCI FI's weekend movies also drove the ratings performance this week, with Saturday's movie premiere of 'King of the Lost World' delivering 845,000 P25-54 and Sunday's movie 'End of Days' delivering 989,000 P25-54.
