Quick Take for Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (Based on Fast Affiliate Ratings)

Although 2/3 of its Lineup Was in Repeat Opposite Season Premieres, ABC Takes Second Place on Wednesday in Viewers and Adults 18-49

DWTS the Results Show Delivers Against Stiff Competition, Winning the 8 Oclock Hour Over CBS Debut of Jericho by 3.5 Million Viewers and 16% in Adults 18-49

Dancing with the Stars the Results Show Retains Nearly All of its Week-Earlier Premiere Delivery, Continuing to Post Solid Gains Over the Same Episode Last Season

ABCs 2-Hour Repeat of the Greys Anatomy Season Finale Places a Strong Second Against Original Competition, with the Series Strongest-Ever Repeat Performance

Wednesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

Although 2/3 of ABC's schedule was in repeat up against season premiere programming on CBS and NBC in each hour from 8:00-11:00 p.m., the Network took second place on Wednesday night in Total Viewers (12.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.7/10). In fact, with its mainly repeat lineup, ABC (3.7/10) beat third-place NBC by 23% (3.0/8) in Adults 18-49 and fourth-place CW (2-hour season premiere of Top Model) by 42% (2.6/7). Certainly worth noting, Fox finished in fifth place on the night (2.2/6) with originals of Bones and Justice. ABC ranked as the No. 1 network on Wednesday among Women 18-49 (5.3/14) and Women 25-54 (6.4/15).

Editors Please Note: ABC will premiere its complete Wednesday night schedule in 2 weeks on 10/4/06, with Dancing with the Stars the Results Show, into the third season premiere of Lost, followed by the series debut of The Nine.

Dancing with the Stars the Results Show (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC's Dancing with the Stars the Results Show ranked No. 1 in the 8 o'clock hour, beating CBS' series debut of Jericho by 3.5 million viewers (14.9 million vs. 11.4 million) and by 16% in Adults 18-49 (3.7/11 vs. 3.2/10). Beauty queen/actress Shanna Moakler was the second dancer to be eliminated from the contest.

Versus the comparable episode last season (on 1/13/06), Dancing with the Stars the Results Show was up by 1.2 million viewers and by 12% in Adults 18-49.

Despite increased competition from CBS, NBC and CW season premieres in the hour this week, DWTS the Results Show retained a strong 91% of its week earlier premiere Total Viewers and 90% of its Adult 18-49 audience.

Greys Anatomy (9:00-11:00 p.m.)

A strategic repeat showing of the 2-hour season finale of Grey's Anatomy, as it leads up to the launch of the show in its new Thursday 9 o'clock time period (tonight - see note below), posted a strong second-place finish in Total Viewers (10.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.8/10). Opposite stiff time period competition that included CBS' season openers of Criminal Minds and CSI: NY and NBC's premiere/debut of Biggest Loser and Kidnapped, ABC's repeat Grey's Anatomy ranked No. 1 with Women 18-49 (5.4/13).

Continuing to deliver added exposure to the show through smart replay scheduling, Grey's Anatomy posted its strongest-ever repeat numbers in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

From 10:00-11:00 p.m., the replay Grey's outperformed NBC's debut telecast of Kidnapped by 3.0 million viewers (10.5 million vs. 7.5 million) and by 43% in Adults 18-49 (4.0/11 vs. 2.8/8).

Note: Tonight (Thursday, 9/21/06) ABC will air a special 1-hour clip show for Grey's in the 8 o'clock hour, into the season premiere at Grey's Anatomy at 9:00 p.m., followed by the series debut of Six Degrees.
