BEAUTY AND BRAWN POWER THE CW'S WEEK WITH BEST "GILMORE GIRLS" IN A YEAR AND MOST WATCHED "SMACKDOWN" OF THE SEASON
"Gilmore" "Veronica Mars" and "Beauty and the Geek" All Rank Second in Their Time Periods in Target Demos
February 6, 2007 (Burbank, California) - With "Gilmore Girls" hitting its best women 18-34 in a year and "Smackdown" reaching its largest audience of the season, The CW this week outpaced UPN a year ago by 17% in adults 18-34 (1.4/4), +31% in women 18-34 (1.7/4) and +11% in viewers (3.0mil), for the week ending Feb. 4, 2007.
Season to date (through Sunday 2/4/07), The CW is out-performing The WB a year ago in the target demos of adults 18-34 (1.5/4, 7%) and women 18-34 (1.9/5, 6%). The CW mirrors The WB's schedule of 6 nights and 13 hours of primetime. Season to date, The CW is on par with UPN, which only programmed 10 hours per week, among adults 18-34 and women 18-34.
Nightly Highlights for Week Ending Feb. 4, 2007:
TUESDAY
"Gilmore Girls" hit its best women 18-34 (4.1/10) in more than a year (since 1/10/2006). "Gilmore Girls" scored its second best adults 18-34 (2.5/7) of the season (best since 11/28/06).
Against tough competition, The CW ranked second on Tuesday night among adults 18-34 (1.9/5) and women 18-34 (3.2/8), and tied for second among women 18-49 (2.4/5).
"Gilmore Girls" ranked second at 8:00p.m. in adults 18-34, women 18-34 and women 18-49 (3.2/7), behind only "American Idol." Week-to-week, "Gilmore Girls" built 25% in adults 18-34, 28% in women 18-34, 24% in adults 18-49 (2.1/5) and 23% in women 18-49.
"Veronica Mars" ranked second in the hour among women 18-34 (2.3/6), matching its second best delivery of the season in that demo.
WEDNESDAY
The CW's "Beauty and The Geek" ranked second in the hour against all competition among adults 18-34 (2.4/7) and women 18-34 (3.0/8), behind only Fox.
With monster gains across the board, "Beauty and The Geek" matched this cycle's best ratings at 8:00 p.m. among women 18-34 (3.0/8), tying the first hour of its premiere.
"Beauty and The Geek" scored impressive week-to-week growth in all categories, gaining 41% in adults 18-34, 50% in women 18-34, 36% in adults 18-49 (1.9/5), 47% in women 18-49 (2.2/5) and 23% in viewers (3.8mil).
FRIDAY
"Smackdown" posted its largest audience of the season (5.1mil).
"Smackdown" ranks second on Friday among men 18-34 (2.1/8)
