Tuesday Comedies (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC's Tuesday night comedies gained audience for the Network during the first hour of prime, as "Carpoolers" at 8:30 p.m. built on "Cavemen" by a best-yet 9% in Total Viewers (7.1 million vs. 6.5 million) and by 9% in Adults 18-49 (2.4/6 vs. 2.2/6).

"Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" delivered a strong second place to Fox's "House" in the 9 o'clock hour among Total Viewers (17.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.4/11). In fact by trailing "House" by fewer than 100K viewers for first-place in the hour, "DWTS the Results" show posted its most competitive finish yet against the Fox powerhouse drama in Total Viewers. Also in the hour, "DWTS the Results Show" outdrew its unscripted competition, NBC's "Biggest Loser," by 10.6 million viewers and by 33% in Adults 18-49 ("Biggest Loser" = 7.2 million & 3.3/8). Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the ABC contest this season.

ABC's "DWTS the Results Show" increased its overall audience for the third straight week, hitting season highs in Total Viewers (17.8 million) and across each of the key adult demographics: AD18-34 (2.9/8-tie), AD18-49 (4.4/11-tie) and AD25-54 (5.6/13-tie).

"A Special Edition of 20/20: California Burning" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC News' "A Special Edition of 20/20: California Burning" took second place to NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," topping CBS' "Cane" by a 2.9 million viewers (10.9 million vs. 8.0 million) and by 40% in Adults 18-49 (2.8/8 vs. 2.0/5).

The special edition of "20/20" garnered the ABC newsmagazine's largest audience (10.9 million) in more than 1 year and its top Adult 18-49 (2.8/8) and Adult 25-54 (3.7/10) numbers in over 8 months since 9/27/06, 2/16/07 and 2/9/07, respectively.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 9% at this time last year up to 20% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
