WEEK No. 7:

During the week (w/o 11/5/07), ABC stood as the most-watched TV network overall (11.9 million), while winning its second consecutive weekly frame among Adults 18-49 (3.8/10). In fact it was the 5th time in the 7 weeks so far this season that ABC qualified as the No. 1 network in the key young adult sales demo. In Adults 18-49, ABC topped second-place Fox by 9% (3.5/9), third-place CBS by 15% (3.3/9) and fourth-place NBC by 23% (3.1/8). ABC also ranked No. 1 for the week with Adults 25-54 (4.4/11). For the 7th straight week this season, ABC was the top draw across all key women demographics, maintaining wide advantages over its closest competitors: W18-34 +11% (3.9/11 vs. 3.5/10 Fox), W18-49 +28% (5.0/13 vs. 3.9/10 CBS) and W25-54 +14% (5.8/14 vs. 5.1/12 CBS).

ABC delivered its most-watched week this season and marked its top Adult 18-49 number in 6 weeks best since season premiere week, w/o 9/24/07. Excluding the week of the 2007 "Academy Awards" telecast (w/o 2/19/07), the Net generated its largest weekly audience in 1 year since the week of 11/13/06.

Rankings: ABC aired 7 of the Top 20 TV shows during the week in Adults 18-49, more than any other network, including the No. 1 program with "Grey's Anatomy" for the 6th time in 7 weeks: "Grey's Anatomy" No. 1, "Desperate Housewives" No. 3, "CMA Awards" No. 7, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" No. 9, "Dancing with the Stars-MON" and "Brothers & Sisters" tied at No. 11 and "Samantha Who?" No. 16. The Network claimed 5 of the Top 10 most-watched television shows overall, the most for any net: "Dancing with the Stars-MON" No. 3, "Grey's Anatomy" No. 4, "Desperate Housewives" No. 5, "Dancing with the Stars the Results-TU" No. 9 and "CMA Awards" No. 10. ABC's "Samantha Who?" stood as the No. 1 new series of the week in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from approximately 10% during the same point in 2006 up to nearly 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

Monday

Featuring its lineup of "Dancing with the Stars," "Samantha Who?" and "The Bachelor," ABC qualified as Monday's most-watched TV network for the seventh week in a row, surpassing second-place CBS by 4.6 million viewers (16.4 million vs. 11.8 million).
