Fast Facts for Sunday, December 9, 2007 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

ABC Takes Second on Sunday in Viewers to an NFL Overrun-Boosted CBS, While Ranking No. 1 on the Evening Across the Key Women Demographics

At 7pm, ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" Holds Second to An NFL-Lifted CBS, Drawing the Series' Biggest Audience in 9 Months

ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is Sunday's No. 1 TV Series in Adults 18-49

The Most-Watched TV Program from 9-11pm, "ABC Premiere Event -- Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day" Also Leads with Key Women

ABC's "Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day" is TV's Most-Watched Movie This Season and Top-Rated in Adults 18-49 in Nearly 1 Year

Sunday Primetime (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC earned second place on Sunday in Total Viewers (11.8 million) to an NFL overrun-driven CBS. ABC ranked No. 1 on the evening across each of the key women demographics: W18-34 (3.1/8), W18-49 (4.3/11) and W25-54 (5.3/12). CBS received big boost to its averages on the evening from a high-rated NFL overrun (New England-Pittsburgh) that went into the first hour of primetime.

"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

Opposite an NFL-inflated CBS during the 7 o'clock hour, ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" took second place among viewers (9.1 million) and young adults (2.6/7).

Despite the heightened competition, "America's Funniest Home Videos" drew its largest audience in 9 months since 3/4/07. The episode awarded a $100K grand prize. The show matched its second-highest Adult 18-49 rating this season.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" ranked No. 1 during the 8 o'clock hour among Adults 18-49 (4.4/10 tied w/NBC's preliminary "fast affiliate" average from 8:00-9:00 p.m.). Despite CBS' decided lead-in advantage coming into the hour, ABC's "Home Edition" outran CBS ("60 Minutes"/"The Amazing Race XII") by 10% among Adults 18-49 (4.4/10 vs. 4.0/9). In fact, "Home Edition" stood as the No. 1 TV series on Sunday in the key young adult sales demographic.

"ABC Premiere Event-Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day" (9:00-11:00 p.m.)

The "ABC Premiere Event-Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's One More Day" was the most-watched (12.5 million) program in its 2-hour time period, also delivering the No. 1 position across each of the key women demos: W18-34 (2.8/7), W18-49 (4.5/11) and W25-54 (5.8/13). Opposite NBC's NFL game (Colts-Ravens), the movie earned second place in its 9:00-11:00 p.m. time period in Adults 18-49 (3.2/8).

The "ABC Premiere Event-Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day" stands as TV's most-watched movie this season (theatrical or original TV movie). It represented the highest-rated movie on TV among Adults 18-49 in nearly 1 year since 12/25/06. Additionally it generated the biggest Adult18-49 audience for any made-for-television movie in more than 1-1/2 years since 4/11/06.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has nearly doubled from over 11% during the same point in 2006 up to more than 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
