 WEEK No. 41:
For the 5th week in a row, ABC was up over the same week last year in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. Versus the comparable year-ago week (w/o 7/2/07), the Network increased 10% in Total Viewers (4.6 million vs. 4.2 million) and 7% in Adults 18-49 (1.5/5 vs. 1.4/5).

Rankings: ABC delivered 6 of the week's Top 20 TV shows in Adults 18-49, placed 4 in the Top 10 and for the 2nd week in a row claimed the summer's No. 1 new show with "Wipeout": "Wipeout" No. 2, "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" and "The Bachelorette-6/30" tied at No. 7, "The Bachelorette" No. 10, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" No. 12 and "Primetime: The Outsiders" No. 18. In addition to ranking as the week's No. 2 television show in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, for the 2nd week in a row ABC's "Wipeout" qualified as the week's No. 1 TV show in Adults 25-54 and Men 18-49.
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped from 17% at the same point in 2006-07, up to 25% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
