"48 HOURS MYSTERY" IS SATURDAY'S #1 PROGRAM IN HOUSEHOLDS, VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54
48 HOURS MYSTERY was Saturday's #1 program in households, viewers, and adults 25-54 (tied with NBC's 45 minutes of the Stanley Cup Finals) on June 6. The CBS News broadcast was also first in its time period in viewers (6.95m), households (4.8/09) and adults 25-54 (2.0/06, tied with NBC), and was second in adults 18-49 (1.5/05).Compared to the same night last year, 48 HOURS MYSTERY surged an impressive +41% in households and +25% in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.
The broadcast, entitled "Lady in The Harbor," profiled the murder of Barbara Mullenix, a CSI extra whose dreams of becoming a star met a gruesome Hollywood ending when she was found stabbed to death in the waters of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. In a twist worthy of CSI, investigators identified the victim to be Barbara Mullenix when they tracked down the serial number on her breast implants. But more shocking than the crime itself was the revelation of who was behind it.
Ira Sutow and Allen Alter produced the broadcast. Al Briganti was the executive editor. Susan Zirinsky was the executive producer.
