ION Television's Second Quarter Primetime Viewership Grows Year over Year across Every Hour
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- ION Television announced across the board viewership growth during the second quarter 2009. Overall, ION Television's household delivery in primetime increased 59%, while primetime delivery for adults 25-54 shot up by 74% year over year. In addition, June 2009 attracted the highest viewership in primetime of any month since ION officially re-launched in 2008, with year over year viewing doubling in the demo.
The popularity of ION Television's off-net series and its movies has resulted in this successful viewership growth trend. NCIS continued its solid performance with a quarterly average of over 1 million households for the first time.
"These numbers indicate that ION Television's primetime schedule is becoming a destination for viewers," said Leslie Chesloff, Executive Vice President, Programming, ION Media Networks. "At this early stage in our development, this growth is particularly exciting because our schedule is still building. This fall, in addition to the off-network debut of Criminal Minds, we will launch our first ION Television original series, Durham County."
