The premiere of BIG BROTHER 11 won its time period in all key measures and topped last summer's premiere of BIG BROTHER 10 in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, July 9.
BIG BROTHER 11 THURSDAY (P) was first in households (4.4/08), viewers (6.68m), adults 25-54 (2.7/09), adults 18-49 (2.3/08) and adults 18-34 (1.7/08). Compared to the first episode of BIG BROTHER 10 (which premiered on Sunday, July 13 last summer), CBS was up +10% in both households (from 4.0/07) and adults 18-49 (from 2.1/07), +13% in adults 18-34 (from 1.5/05), even in adults 25-54 and added +550,000 viewers (from 6.13m, +9%).
Compared to the Thursday BIG BROTHER 10 time period premiere (which was on July 31, 2008), CBS was up +5% in households (from 4.2/08), even in both adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 and added +280,000 viewers (from 6.40m, +4%).
Compared to the time period live plus same day delivery this summer (rebroadcasts of CBS's crime dramas and sitcoms), CBS was up +42% in adults 25-54 (from 1.9/06), +64% in adults 18-49 (from 1.4/05), +89% in adults 18-34 (from 0.9/03).
For the night, CBS was first in households (5.0/09), viewers (7.53m), adults 25-54 (2.5/07) and second in adults 18-49 (1.9/06, -0.2 behind FOX).
In addition, BIG BROTHER 11 had its biggest launch ever online, with +11% growth in unique users on CBS.com vs. the season 10 premiere. In addition, streams grew +263% compared to last year across the CBS Audience Network, which distributes CBS content to hundreds of partner sites. Growth was driven by fan anticipation to complimentary content such as cast photos, videos, and interviews, plus interactive features like community discussions.
